About this property
Spectacular views of the Blue Valley, steps from the Rabun Bald trailhead!
Immerse yourself in the deep peace and beauty of this area. Driving through the last section of road through the lush rhododendron passageway and arriving at the house with the beautiful backdrop of mountains and national forest immediately sets one's soul at rest. There is a strong sense of beauty and sanctity of nature surrounding and from within this house. It carries the feel of a mountain cabin with many of the comforts and coziness of a modern home. We enjoy sitting on the back deck (or, from the inside, the panoramic view living area) and absorbing and being humbled by the enveloping beauty of the mountains and nature. The shadowing on the mountains from passing clouds and change in light direction throughout the day, highlighting various ridges and contours, is amazing! We also enjoy being wrapped in the clouds from time to time. The elevation is ~3,700 feet, which makes it very comfortable in the summertime...when the rest of North Georgia is 85-90 degrees, it is 75 up here. The unique microclimate of this region creates a flora a special habitat. Each season brings its own splendor, as well as options for different activities. Flora and fauna come alive in spring, with full splendor. Summer offers the coolness and comfort of the altitude, and many surrounding hikes, waterfalls, sliding rocks and swimming holes. Fall brings the changing of the leaves and mountain town festivals. Winter offers unique Christmas shopping opportunities, snow tubing nearby, and Highlands has an outdoor ice rink that is open until early March. There are so many things to explore and immerse oneself in around here!
The Bartram Trail is steps away from the front door and take a right on the trail, and from the house, the hike to the top of Rabun Bald (2nd highest summit in Georgia, with an old fire tower turned observation deck at the top) is 1.6 miles. Or, take a left on the trail, and meander further into the valley and encounter many babbling streams and small waterfalls.
There are 2 bedrooms with private full baths (one with a garden tub), 2 loft bedrooms (each with portable CordaRoy mattress in addition to bed) with Jack and Jill bathroom, and a basement with full bathroom with additional sleeping options.
There is a Vermont Castings wood heater in the center of the 2 living room areas, and a fire pit in the back yard.
The high speed internet is fast and reliable. There is full cellular service (for Verizon, and others). There is a grill, binoculars, books, backpacks, and board games for guests' use.
We are dog lovers and the house is dog friendly, with a large fenced back yard area, freely accessible from 2 doors on the back deck.
There are myriad outdoor opportunities and adventures in this region, as well as many communities within a 30 minute drive, each with their own charm and personality, including:
Sky Valley, GA (waterfall hike, golf course/club, residential community): 3 miles Scaly Mountain. NC (Highlands Outpost snow tubing and alpine slide, Highlands Aerial Park/ziplining, Winfield Farms/venue for Bear Shadow Festival): 3 miles Dillard, GA (local craft shops, restaurants): 7 miles Highlands, NC (charming mountain town that offers fine and eclectic dining and shopping, a small brewery, many hikes and waterfalls in the surrounding area): 11 miles Clayton, GA (multiple great restaurants, shops, salt of the earth community with some interwoven Bohemian character): 15 miles Franklin, NC (friendly community with numerous excellent restaurants, 2 cool breweries, and a greenway and park along the river): 22 miles
We love this area, this place...it is a special place, and we hope that you find at as special as we do!

I can’t say enough great things about this cabin or Vanessa. This was the best rental experience I have ever had. Communication was quick, easy and thorough. All our requests were accommodated. The cabin was the most well stocked vacation home I have ever stayed in. We were greeted with a basket of seasonal paper products and coffee in the kitchen, bath bombs and robes in the bathroom, and doggie treats and a doggie bed and crate for our fur baby. She has literally thought of every detail. The view was breathtaking and we can’t wait to go back.
This place was everything I needed for a weekend away. The views from the living room and deck were amazing. You really can't beat the location if you also want to do some hiking. I would love to come back some time.
This is one of our new favorite places to stay. The views out the back window are even better in person. The property is conveniently located between Clayton and Highlands. The house was very cozy and had everything you could possibly need away from home. The fenced in yard with grass was a huge plus for our dogs. If you’re looking to do some hiking there is a trailhead just minutes away from the house that I would highly recommend for amazing views. We will definitely be staying here again.
We spent a week at the cabin with adults, teens and tweens. There was plenty of space for all nine of us and our pup. The cabin is gorgeous with amazing views! Great location...was an easy drive to both Highlands and Clayton. Awesome hiking nearby. Vanessa was very friendly and responsive. We will most definitely stay again!!
My family and friends recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful mountain-side cabin vacation home, and it was an experience we will cherish forever. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning natural beauty that surrounded us. We can't wait to return and make more cherished memories in this little slice of mountain paradise.
We had a wonderful stay. The open space and large windows reveal a beautiful view of the mountains in North Carolina. The fenced yard was full of blooming flowers and ripe blueberries. Vanessa was a friendly host who was always available to give suggestions about the area. I hope that we can stay at this home again in the future.
The property is awesome! The views from the living area and master bedroom are incredible and look exactly as pictured! All beds are comfortable and kitchen is well stocked including plenty of coffee for those nice mornings.
There’s a three mile hike within steps of the property with excellent views also. Owner is very responsive and easy to with with.
The Home is Beautiful and the views are stunning. Vanessa is a wonderful Host and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. All the little things and touches she did was very thoughtful and inviting. We all had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I feel as though we could not have found a better place for our family vacation. The house is spacious and more thank accommodated our family of 8.
My husband and I were looking for a mountain getaway with our two dogs. Finding a home that is comfortable enough, has a fenced yard, a great outdoor deck with views, and proximity to things is nearly impossible. BUT I was so happy to have found this gem. It far exceeded expectations and we were so sad to leave at the end of our stay. Being on the Bartram Trail was perfect for us as well as we wanted to hike some. Our dogs had the best time running around and enjoyed being on the trail. I look forward to staying here again!
We had an incredible stay at this property. We normally stay directly in the Hoghlands but because of timing for booking we happened upon this special place. The home itself is beautiful, and the view is incredible! I could have stayed at the house the entire time enjoying the comfort of the home and the views from every room. I drank my morning coffee on the deck and we loved the fenced in backyard with the fire pit and beautiful garden! It was such an added extra to have an amazing view on the side of a mountain and a yard to enjoy! Vanessa was a wonderful host, very responsive and we appreciated all the extra little touches she did to make the house feel like a home. We had room for our entire family to spread out and lots of places to be together as a family. Every room is comfortable with lots of places to sit, read books and rest. We look forward to booking this property again!
We recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful mountain getaway, and it exceeded all our expectations! The home was cozy, clean, and well-maintained, providing the perfect retreat from our busy lives. The views from the property were simply breathtaking, with stunning vistas of the surrounding mountains that we enjoyed every day.
The property is located close to several charming towns, making it easy to explore local shops, restaurants, and attractions. We loved being able to take short drives to nearby towns and experience the unique character each one had to offer. The amenities provided were top-notch. We appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the thoughtful touches throughout the home that made our stay even more enjoyable.
Overall, we had an unforgettable experience and would highly recommend this mountain getaway to anyone looking for a peaceful and picturesque retreat. Thank you for making our stay so special!
We normally stay in Highlands, but that is about to change! This place was SO very quiet and the view was amazing. Having a sought-after hiking trail out of the back door was a major plus as well - you really don't have to get in your car at all in order to have a great mountain experience.
The house itself far exceeded our expectations - truly spectacular decor and furnishings. Bed was comfy and we had no trouble cooking meals in the kitchen. House was very clean. My only recommendations to the owner: a new hair dryer, dry measuring cups, tongs for the kitchen and, very important - wine glasses! ;) Other than those small things, we literally had every single thing that we needed.
We spent one day on the trail and one day in the town of Highlands. This cabin has a great location for exploring multiple areas with ease. Julep Farms is just down the street as well.
MANY thanks to this owner for sharing such a beautiful place. The cabin is outfitted with so many thoughtful touches that make the stay special. (We enjoyed your book collection). Thanks again for providing us with this peaceful weekend.
The home is very pet friendly with a jar of dog treats waiting as a nice surprise. In addition, the fenced in yard was great for letting our dogs run around. The house was very clean and plenty of apace for our 8 family members. The best part about the propery is the view. The windows in the living area allow you to enjoy that view from wherever your sitting. There is a great workspace in the basement room which allowed my husbad to get work done while there. The leaves were beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
Excellent communications with the host! If you're looking for a great place to enjoy a relaxing and scenic getaway, this is it. Great hiking trails nearby that you can easily access without driving (everyone else is tying to park where you're staying).
Thanks for the great stay!
This property is the perfect place for a quiet get away . We were very pleased with this beautiful home that was very spacious and had a million dollar view morning, afternoon and evening . Trails almost at your doorstep and Highlands 20 minutes away. We can’t wait to return !
