COLORADO ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH: FISHING, BOATING, HIKING, 4-WHEELING, SNOWMOBILING, BIKING, CROSS COUNTRY SKIING, HUNTING & GET-TOGETHERS

The Grand Mesa is located in western Colorado, USA. It is the largest flat-topped mountain in the world (over two hundred lakes) and Vega Lake is the largest lake in the area.

The cabin sits at 8200’ elevation and features beautiful craftsmanship throughout. The large full kitchen features a breakfast bar with seating for 10 that opens to a stunning living room with 35'cathedral ceilings. The dining room seats another 7. From this main living area you can access the spacious 500 sq ft covered deck (with gas barbecue)—the perfect place to kick back and enjoy the serene views. You also have access to unlimited recreation in the immediate area with fishing, hiking, biking, 4 wheeling, cross country skiing, birding watching, boating, snowmobiling depending on the season.

The lower level includes a 500 SF family/theater room, with handcrafted pine paneled walls, two large couches, one large smart TV, 500+ DVDs, a foosball table, and TV for gaming systems (BRING YOUR OWN GAMING SYSTEMS).

For small children there are plenty of toys.

Wildlife abounds around the home: deer, elk, moose, eagles, chipmunks, fox, marmots, wild turkeys and numerous species of birds can be seen depending on the season.

Sip hot chocolate by the crackling fireplace, gaze at the amazing views of Vega Lake and the mountains, or just unwind in the peace of the aspen and pine trees that surround the cabin.

FOR GET-TOGETHERS:

The cabin is the perfect place for get-togethers.

No loud outdoor music after 9 pm to preserve the peace in the area.

This cabin is NOT to be used as an event center—unless the event has a TOTAL of up to, but no more than, 17 people using the property.

No pets inside or outside on the property.

No Weddings or Receptions (unless under 17 people total). However, Vega Lodge (1.5 miles away) or the Pavilion at Aspen Park Campground (¼ mile away) are great spaces for such venues, and the cabin is the perfect place for the wedding party to stay together (up to 17 people total).

No additional camping on the property, or even at the nearby campgrounds, to increase guest numbers. In other words, do not use camping to extend your group numbers above our 17-person limit that will be on-site, even part time, and using the amenities of the cabin.***The cabin caretakers (who live in another cabin) are authorized to uphold the rules for the property.

Food/drink: Vega Lodge (1.5 miles away) offers dining and drink (seasonal) and Collbran (25 minute drive) offers a deli and a pizza parlor.

FOR SNOWMOBILING TO THE TOP OF THE MESA:
Start right at the cabin. The Vega Snowmobile Trail #545 begins at the Vega State Park Trailhead just after crossing the dam and ends at an intersection with the Sunlight to Powderhorn Trail (SP). On the Sunlight to Powderhorn Trail Map the Vega Trail is #37 (66 6/10 Road). There is a large parking lot at this Trailhead for trailers and you can drive snowmobiles to and from the cabin from there.

The Trailhead #37-A is just down from the cabin at the cross roads of Parkview Road and 64 6/10 Road. This trail 37-A intersects #37. While our guest you can park trailers on Parkview road tight to the right so that the plow can drive by. Then drive the snowmobile or your car/truck to and from the cabin.

The trail #37 continues on Forest Service Road 262 in the Park Creek drainage through aspen into open meadows in Big Park. About half way through the meadow, the trail will intersect the SP Trail near Monument Creek. NOTE: The large heated garage is the perfect place to park and work on your snowmobiles.

An absolute must!!
First of all they really deserved a 10 star rating! The owners are two of the nicest, caring and accommodating people I have met when booking a VRBO! We have a blended family, and a very large one at that! The ages were 10 months old to 76 years old. I booked it for a 4 night, five day stay. My only complaint, was that I didn't have it booked for a much longer stay. From the absolute stunningly beautiful cabin, with ALL the amenities that one could hope for, to the beautiful views, wildlife and abundance of activities, you'll never want to leave!! Thank you Todd and Rhonda for allowing our family to enjoy your cabin as our own. It allowed for some unforgettable memories!!!

Beautiful lake home with loads of amenities
Our family (13 people ranging from ages 4 to 73) had a great time here. The house is beautiful with a massive kitchen, great front porch and a basement theater room. We were able to enjoy all the home had to offer and spend some quality time on the lake. Peaceful and quiet area in a beautiful and secluded part of Colorado.
