Paws in the Pines, quaint romantic cabin, world class fishing, dog friendly
*** Longing for an escape from the world? A place to recharge, regroup and reconnect? *** Seeking a romantic getaway? *** Need an amazing base camp for your outdoor adventures? Fishing is your passion? *** Don’t go anywhere without your furry friend(s)?
Located just 37 miles from Colorado Springs, nestled on 1.27 acres of tall pines and aspen trees, Paws in the Pines offers the perfect blend of modern convenience and natural beauty in this all-season cabin.
In an area known for natural beauty and abundant public lands, it can be your perfect base camp for all your adventures. The location is ideal for exploring the region’s riches, less than 30 minutes to almost everything the area has to offer from world class fishing, hiking, museums, history, gambling, great food, etc.
It’s close enough that you don’t spend all your time driving, yet it feels like a world away. To get to the cabin, your picturesque drive winds through hillsides adorned with elk herds, horses, yaks, Huerfano cows, miniature donkeys and more. Then, a short one-mile drive on a maintained dirt road brings you to your mountain oasis where you are surrounded by towering trees and welcomed into the tranquility and serenity of the mountains.
When you step inside, you are greeted by the rustic and somewhat quirky charm of the recently remodeled interior. Taking a cue from the numerous bear paw prints found in the snow when Paws in the Pines was first purchased, a theme developed. Embracing the wild spirit of Mother Nature’s mountain animals, each space is adorned with statues, wall hangings and pictures that pay homage to the diverse wildlife that call the mountains home.
This delightful retreat is adorned with wildlife accents and cozy furnishings carefully curated for comfort and character. In a bit of whimsy, the animals are even named.
Beautiful beetle killed blue stained pine are gorgeous feature walls in both the living room and bedroom where the focused lights highlight the unique character of the wood.
Your first fire in the woodburning stove is prepared and waiting for you. Just light the fire and settle in. The flickering firelight will invite you to snuggle up with a good book, good drink and a good time.
The well-appointed kitchen is equipped with everything needed to prepare your own special meal. The open floor plan allows cooking while still engaging with others, even watching the 55” smart television in the living room.
A vintage lawyer’s bookshelf offers many books, games and puzzles to fill your quiet time, or stay connected with our high-speed satellite internet by Starlink.
Romantic nights await as you reconnect with your loved one with firelight, flickering (non-flame) candles, adult libations, your favorite tunes and a little dancing in the moonlight on the wide-open floor. It doesn’t get any better than this.
During the days, relax on the gorgeous gated front deck where you can lounge in the loveseat, catch some sun and simply soak up the mountain vibe. Unwind and enjoy the sounds of nature through birds chirping, hummingbirds buzzing, leaves rustling and gentle whispers of the clean mountain air. Watch the wildlife as you blow bubbles off the enclosed back deck that features a barbeque, patio table and chairs, and a propane fire pit.
Dogs are welcome to snuggle on the numerous dog beds, blankets and bowls that are provided. Gated front and back decks allow them to enjoy their own unique experience. A large, fenced area adjacent to the cabin is dedicated just for our furry friends.
Later, step outside in the crisp mountain night and gaze up at a sky view that is internationally acknowledged as a Dark Sky Area. Moonbeams dance through the pine trees as you may hear the howl of wolves at the Colorado Wolf Sanctuary and Wildlife Center. Experience the tranquility as winter’s snow, illuminated by the moon, appears almost fluorescent.
Don’t miss out on the chance to experience the magic of this quaint cabin. It’s an enchanting haven that reminds you it’s time to take a break, create new amazing experiences and memories, reconnect with nature and embrace the simple joys of life.

We had the most relaxing time in this cabin! The hosts truly thought of everything. The cabin was beautiful and so clean, the fireplace was so magical and warm, and the area was quiet and peaceful. The stars were so bright at night too! We would definitely stay here again!
This property was even better than advertised! Well appointed, very clean and attention to detail. Also was a great place if you are traveling with dogs. Can't say enough good things about the hosts-it is obvious they really care about the comfort of their guests. Would not hesitate staying there again.
Needed a quiet getaway from the noise and busyness and this property worked out perfectly! Very organized and well thought out setup. A great place to stay when traveling with your pet!
Jody is an amazing host. She took the time to have personalized treats for our three puppers :) She thought of everything you could possibly need for your comfort and enjoyment! Our stay was exceptional and we definitely plan on returning.
Fantastic property and property owners. We have stayed there numerous times and would recommend to everyone. Such a wonderful property with all the extras from the owners. Wonderful home you will love your stay.
We chose to stay at Paws in Pines for our anniversary, and everything was absolutely perfect. The check in process was seamless, and our hosts had wine and treats for our dogs! The entire cabin is so cozy, and obviously loved. We really couldn’t ask for a better experience, and look forward to returning in the summer. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!
My husband and I visited as a weekend getaway for our 5th wedding anniversary. Dwight and Jody left personalized touches to ensure we felt welcomed. It was such a lovely stay! For anyone looking for time away with the comforts of home, Paws in the Pines is an excellent choice. We will absolutely be back!
We had an amazing time. The pictures don't do the property justice!
Bird watching on the back porch and star gazing at night, this was the perfect getaway for us!
This cabin was amazing! It had the feel of a cabin and had everything we needed for our stay. Jody is a great host and thought of so many extras! Our dog enjoyed the extras that were for her also. It snowed several inches on the day of our arrival, however the roads had been plowed and we had no issues. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it.
The cabin was perfect! Very relaxing getaway! Everything you could ever need to just unwind and recharge! The host, Jody, was amazing. She was very responsive and went the extra mile to make us and our fur baby feel welcome! One of the best experiences we ever had and will definitely go back again!
This place is fantastic for a quick getaway! Close to fishing multiple locations. Lots of privacy and decks at both the front and rear of the cabin. We found our new home away from home and will definitely be staying here again soon! Thank You Jody and Dwight for an amazing place to stay in the woods! Chet and Tina.
This was by far, our best rental experience on any platform! The hosts were very communicative and understanding. The cabin was perfectly cozy for us and our dogs. They thought of everything! All the little touches and details helped us relax and enjoy our stay. Having a fully enclosed outdoor area was great for our pooches and our peace of mind. For anyone looking for a truly dog friendly rental, this is it! We will definitely be back!
Even though we ran into some rain the first couple of days, We did enjoy the Cabin it was really amazing . The only part we did not like was there were no curtains on any windows but in the bedroom. A couple different days while we’re driving back to the cabin we seen deer eating on the side of the road. Then a doe and her baby was on the side of the cabin the day we left. We had a wonderful time walking the casinos in Cripple Creek . Met a few good people in the area with some friendly Dogs that we had to give some rubbings to . As we were missing our animals we have at home Altogether we had a great time and will be back next year we hope.
We had a wonderful stay! Jody was so gracious to have placed a very thoughtful welcome gift for us! The cabin was very clean and cozy, and we loved all of the little details. You really don't need to pack much for you stay, as they have everything you need. We also loved all of the amenities that were included for our furbabies. It was the perfect ''home away from home" for our week long getaway. Just walk in, unpack and relax.
We loved our stay at this location! I was shocked at how quiet and dark it was at night. The check in process was super easy, no issues at all. The cabin was clean, cozy, and had all the amenities we could’ve needed for our stay. You can tell that these folks have put a lot of thought and care into this place. Thank you Jody & Dwight!
Loved loved loved this property! Everything was so cozy in the cabin, and the outside was gorgeous. Pics don’t do it justice. Jody was super easy to communicate with and prepared us for the stay very well. The cabin itself was extremely clean and well stocked. There was nothing we ever needed! We mainly picked this stay for the dog friendly portion, but we got so much more. Definitely would recommend to anyone.
The hosts have clearly gone the extra mile to create a welcoming space for our furry companions! We would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for an easy escape with their canine best friend! We were not exactly sure what amenities to expect, but the host had everything we needed ready for us. We were so appreciative of the getaway and the comfortable cabin that was relatively close to plenty of notable locations around area. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a cute mountain getaway!
Paws in the Pines is a very cozy and comforting space. It's clear that Jody and Dwight were very thoughtful in deciding how to set up the cabin; everything about the space feels intentional, from the layout to the decor to the helpful (and sometimes funny) labels. Some of the storage solutions appear to have been custom built for the space. All in all, it feels like a lot of love and care have gone into making Paws in the Pines feel joyful, welcoming, and functional. Jody also sent me a good amount of information prior to my arrival, including a cabin manual, which I found very helpful. The space is also well set up for anyone who wants to bring their pooch(es) with them. There is enough empty floor space to accommodate multiple dogs and their paraphernalia, and the outdoor spaces are all fitted with fences and gates, so pups and humans can enjoy being outside together.I also really appreciated that there were multiple options for heating the cabin. The radiator that is connected to the wall-mounted temperature control panel was fairly loud, and I am very sensitive to sound, so I ended up relying a bit more on the portable ceramic space heater and the two wall-mounted radiators in the bathroom and bedroom. There is also a wood-burning stove, although I didn't end up using it. I was plenty warm in the cabin, even though I visited in February.A very comfortable space for a retreat, along with many animal friends to keep you company; my favorites were Walker and Wilbur. :)
We loved our stay at the cabin! The location was perfect for exploring the area - we visited Flourissant Fossil Beds, Mueller State Park, Pikes Peak, the Wolf Sanctuary, and Garden of the Gods.
The cabin was exactly what we wanted! It is in a lovely location. When sitting on the deck with my coffee in the morning I was able to look out at pine trees, smell the clean air, and watch the hummingbirds.
The owners have really thought of everything and all of the special touches were really appreciated. We were celebrating my son's HS graduation and there was a mug, candy and balloons awaiting us upon our arrival which resulted in a big smile.
We loved our stay and would absolutely come back if in the area.
