"Lovely property and perfect base to explore north Wales - amazing views of Snowdonia and fields around had hundreds of sheep in. Property was clean and had everything you need. Only negative (if we’re being very picky!) was the water pressure…took an age to run a bath and the electric shower above is not the strongest. The other bathroom with a mixer shower was fine. Overall, would definitely recommend and hopefully will return again in the future!"

Celtic Royal Hotel & Spa

2/10 Terrible

"Hotel charges £10 extra to park which wasn’t evident in any communications prior to arrival. On arrival reception insisted we only had the family room booked for 2 people. After insisting I had booked it for 4 people they discovered that it was an error on their systems. Room decor was very dated and worn, toilet cistern leaked, room was incredibly hot, could hear every move of the room/people above - creaking floors, bed and even flushing toilet. On top of that noise from some generator outside our room. Ordered 4 meals for dinner and after 45 minutes only 3 arrived, again an issue with systems, 4th meal arrived after we finished eating with a free drink as an apology. Hotel pool was a plus. We were required to provide a time to attend breakfast the night before although it was buffet style and the restaurant was barely 10% full - I don’t really what to be held to a schedule on holiday. Despite there being a pool I definitely wouldn’t stay there again. A good quiet night sleep is worth a lot more than a swim!"

"The location of the hotel is good and I'm sure the view would be lovely, if you're in the right room. We were placed in the basement, beneath the bar, since we had brought our dog. The building is not well maintained with cracks on the walls, stains on the carpets and a musty smell. It's in desperate need of a deep clean and redecorating. We both slept terribly due to the bed being ridiculously soft, and a constant noise from footsteps and talking in the bar above until 3am, even though the bar is supposed to close at 11pm. We've stayed in many hotels and hostels at a range of prices and never struggle to sleep, apart from here. This was not akin with the price paid, therefore we would not stay again."

The Royal Victoria Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Just back from a 2 night stay at The Royal Victoria Hotel and after having read some very mixed reviews, I didn't really know what to expect, but the place was absolutely fine. Location was literally just across the road from the start if the Llanberis path for Snowdon or the railway if yiu wanted to get the train up. We found the staff, room and breakfast all to be ideal. Our only little downside was the shower tray filled up with water but we let them know when we checked out. I had booked the coach house, but upon arrival found we'd actually been put in the hotel, so was even better. There were tea/coffee making facilities in the room which you could get more of at the reception, an iron, ironing board, hairdryer, fan and a sofa alongside a superking size bed (2 singles pushed together). I would stay there again if I ever went to that area and its the perfect location for sightseeing and climbing Snowdon."

Caer Rhun Hall Hotel

"A mixed stay. Hard to give this hotel 3/5, so I rounded up to 4/5. The hotel itself, and surrounding grounds are immaculate. You will be delighted from the minute you park up at their front door. Check-in, central lobby, and ambience is all excellent. 5/5. Our issues were entirely related to our room. We were given a room on the top floor, and the room was very (very) warm. The small bedroom window was wide-open when we went in, and the room didn't cool down. So it was very difficult to get to sleep. There is no Air-Con in the room (or the hotel). We rang reception, and they said they'd look for a portable fan, which we then left on all night beside the open window. It didn't help much. Next, the room said it had "blackout drapes / curtains." For our room, that was simply not true. Our room faced out onto the front of the property, and the rolling blind was simply too small for the window, and offset to the left. As such, there was a large gap on the right and lots of light seepage all night, from the front courtyard white and blue flood lights. We raised this with the staff on check-out, and hope they improve the room. I hope this is fair and reasonable critique. Again - the hotel itself, staff and service, all excellent."
