Excellent vacation with the home as a highlight.

We had a great time relaxing and visiting the towns, falls, and beaches. The home is amazing and very private, and not as far from amenities as we thought it might be (35 minutes driving). Thanks to Shane for a great stay. (If I ever am able to build a vacation home of my own, I hope he'll be available to build it.)

Pacific Northwest Wonderland

This lodge is magical!!! If you love nature this is a must visit. Once you step out of your car it’s time to relax. Take a steam in the sauna and run to the creek to cool off. Take a nap in the swing bed. Don’t forget your fishing gear lots of places to fishing or charter a crabbing boat for $100 a person in Winchester Bay.

Beautiful place

Unfortunately we were not able to stay at the property for a couple reason of which were no fault of the owner, I must say Shane is wonderful to work with, the place is very nice, secluded and has a warm feeling. Do yourself a favor and try to get to the property before dark just to make finding it a little easier, We will definately give this beautiful home another try next time in the area.

This house is one of the coolest I have ever been to. The sounds of the river was like a dream. And the falls are absolutely beautiful. On the short hike to the falls we experienced snow, lightning, hale in various sizes, rain, and the sun came out for a few minutes, it was an experience to remember forever.

Mother's Day Getaway

This home is the perfect place to get off the grid, relax and recharge. Being on the hanging beds feels like being on a slow moving porch swing while gazing at the stars above through the multiple skylights. Swinging in the oversized hammock, sitting by the fire pit or reading in the super comfy living room chairs while hearing the soothing stream takes you back to a simpler time. The house is also the closest home to the water falls which are well worth the short drive and easy hike.

Beautiful one of a kind home

A lot of originality put into the construction of this home. We had an amazing weekend. Beds are creative but if you have a bad back not comfortable. Had to put one of the futon mattress on the foam to make it bearable.

Perfectly quiet 4th of July

For years I’ve said I was going to find a quiet place away from fireworks for the fourth so my dogs don’t suffer. This definitely fit the bill. Didn’t hear a single firework, just the quiet of the forest. The place is beautiful, well appointed (especially the kitchen) beds are comfortable, everything was perfect. It was hot but the house stayed cool. Creek and falls are beautiful too. Google maps worked all the way to the house. Truly beautiful place. I’ll be back!

Winter Solitude Below the Falls

Below the Falls Lodge was everything I was hoping for. The description is spot on and we had a great adventure between Christmas and New Year's Eve. We arrived a few hours before a classic Oregon Coast Storm took the power out but still made the most of the trip. The lodge was equipped to handle such situations but unfortunately didn't get to enjoy the excellent little sauna until the power came back on the last 3 hours of the trip. Such a unique design, and the location is what it is all about. Excellent communication from the owner and helpful information posted around the house. Hopefully can come back some day when the electricity is on, but being without was actually quite relaxing with the wood stove radiating dry warmth as the rain and rushing river were singing outside. Very cool home, wonderful location and experience.

Fern gully

This place is great. (Dang, it! I was trying not to sound so excited as the rest of the reviews, but it's hard not to...) There is hardly anything conventional about this place. I don't know what type of wood he used for the outside planking but some of it is 18" wide and over? and inch thick, it's awesome (I mean hard-to-find). There are several kinds of berries growing wild in the back yard. Even in August, there is a lot of water flowing down the creek and a steady stream comes out of the the hill pouring into the creek, too.

This was such a relaxing 2 days! The home is fully stocked with blankets, towels, cleaning, kitchen has NICE cookware, real plates utensils, silverware etc. Most common condiments are in frig and sugar flower etc under cupboard. Nice to light a fire, it was my first and great instructions with supplies all that is needed is there but paper products packaging plates and bags are great to help start the fire. There was no cell service, no internet but that is temporary. I liked that technology was off grid experience. Use their directions to get there its easier than it seems! The beds are fun feels like floating down the river. An adventure in its self! The windows open was like sleeping under the stars and by the river hearing 100% nature. I just loved it. I will go back maybe for special occaision.

40th trip

Happily surprised with stocked organic coffee, foil, garbage bags etc. not common in rentals these days. It’s obvious the hosts care about the property and the people who rent. No complaints. Beautiful property, quirky fun cabin with an obvious creative DIY plan and touch. Watched ducky waddle butts and piglets on the road. Saw eagles, numerous impressive hawks, donkeys, elk, geese, does, fawns, bucks etc. Absolutely loved that it has no Wi-Fi or cell service. Disconnect here if you like quarks, wildlife, moss, the sound is running water and living like we used too (no dumb phone service or internet!) We will return. One of a Kind - Soul filled place in the woods

You will be so glad you came to this soul filled lodge in the woods. The pictures tell the story of how unique this home is, but it is even more beautiful in person. You feel the love of nature all around, whether relaxing with a book by the wood burning fireplace, ascending the juniper spiral staircase, or sitting by the babbling brook. The drive into the lodge is wonderful as well; as we meandered along the riverside, we were welcomed by a majestic bull elk who stopped in the middle of the road, long enough for us to take in his magnificence, and then he wandered back into the woods. We would have been happy with just the basics in such a place, but Shane included all the amenities to ensure an incredibly comfortable stay. As a fellow rental property owner, I can assure you that Shane's expectations of his guests are simple and completely valid. I can honestly say that of the numerous places we have stayed in our many travels, this ranks in the top two! I promise you, if you come to Below the Falls Lodge, you won't want to leave, we didn't. Couldn’t have been more impressed! Absolutely loved the house and everything it has to offer. Having everything thing we needed while being away from the public was a dream. My children and dog absolutely loved the creek and being able to enjoy the forest while us adults enjoyed the break from technology and being able to slow down a bit. Can’t wait to return!

Off the grid dream

This property is an off the grid HEAVEN!! You start by entering through a beautiful glass hobbit style door. You find a whimsical cabin that is fully stocked with literally anything and everything you might need or want. The skylights in the bedrooms mixed with the swinging beds and the sound of the creek outside your windows makes you feel like you are sleeping in the trees. The falls are a short distance away and beautiful. The river was fun to fish (we ate fresh steelhead one night!) The wood burning stove is cozy and warm and heats the entire place. There is a TV with plenty of movies but we chose to be screen free. The circular staircase wrapped around a tree and the suspension hallway is gorgeous. It is the perfect place to escape, relax and recharge. Thank you for creating and sharing it with the world!

Fantastic

This place is amazing! After a loooong trip from Portland we were so happy to settle down at the cabin for two nights. It was not enough. Getting there is no joke! I was beginning to regret going that far off grid but we all agreed is was worth it. Being without WI Fi was very hard because I had to drive 15 minutes on a winding road to the post office to send emails and check in with my work/ pet sitter. The sound of the river was so relaxing. The bed linens are really good! We cooked the entire time. And they had lots of spices. I even used some of their stuff to complete my recipe! The water falls were so close and easy hike from car (one mile)

Lovely Winter solstice Retreat

Otherworldly experience

If you are looking to travel to a different planet, this is the place. Marvel at the mist zephyrs during a rainstorm. Relax in the warm and well appointed lodge, start a wood fire in the living room stove and then make your favorite comfort food the the legendarily equipped kitchen. Then rock yourself to sleep to the sounds of the babbling brook while you relax in the suspended beds upstairs under the skylights. If your lucky the resident Bald Eagle may join you for coffee the next morning. The Lodge will leave you with fond memories a sense of “what the hell don’t we live here!!”

Very peaceful

Quiet woodsy setting, one of a kind home, beautiful stream passes the house. It fit us perfectly. We visited the falls up stream about a mile, and silver falls was incredible!!
