I’m sorry you had a disappointing week. Unfortunately our family was on vacation the same week and I was unable to drive down and replace the pass that another guest inadvertently took home with them. Additional passes can always be purchased at the Corolla Visitor’s Center. The cleanliness you expressed concern about is unacceptable to all of us and we are working diligently for a solution for next season. I appreciate the frustration and apologize. This is one of the reasons I refunded you $500 for your week.

I’m so sorry that you had an unhappy experience at our property. I know the weather was not good during your week; unfortunately not much we can do there. I would however like to address the other items of concern. As clearly stated in our property description as well as in your welcome guide, the property is 9 miles down the beach with no roads and requires a 4WD. Typically travel time is about 30 minutes and can be traveled at low or high tide, but low tide is a much smoother and faster drive due to the compaction of the sand. The distance or the fact that you have to drive on the sand should not have been a surprise. We do not own a truck or a Jeep but vehicle clearance of 7” is recommended. In your welcome guide I specifically let you know every item that you need to bring including paper products. We provide a starter set for you just in case you forget, but clearly someone did not check the list of things to bring. Additionally the property is a five bedroom home with two single beds ( one as a daybed in the loft above the living room and one under a double bed in a bedroom). Again, each room is clearly described in the property description under the bedroom breakdown. The beds are not made ( as stated) but can be made for an additional fee. As far as “sewage” running anywhere from 1-5 am… this is completely untrue and sounds unhealthy and dangerous. The water system is emptied into a septic system as in all homes that are outside city limits. Possibly you are referring to the water purification system which regenerates once in a 24 hour cycle, but the result is a decrease in water pressure for about 15-20 minutes and has absolutely no connection with sewage. We are located alongside wild horse and is a bit removed from the hectic pace of most resort towns. It’s a charming and beautiful location but I agree it’s not for everyone. But for most, the “getaway from it all factor” and the ability to see wild horses roaming freely offsets some of the challenges of driving in an area with no roads.

Thank you! We are glad you had a great vacation! One of the things we love most about the northern beaches is there is much less beach traffic when you spend the day at the beach. So while it does take a bit longer to get there, the extra effort pays off!

I’m so sorry you didn’t have a great experience at Bikini Bittom. You absolutely should have reached out to me about towel quality or anything else as I give my cell number to all our renters and we also have a property manager in the area who will address any issues that arise in the house. Our entire living & dining area was refurnished this spring. I am unclear as to what maintenance you are referring to.

I’m glad you had a great week despite the chilly weather. It’s a beautiful and unique area and visiting such a place to me is always a treat. As you can imagine being so close to the ocean, the salt air batters all things exterior... railings, screens, outdoor furniture. We typically spend all spring tidying up and touching up but as you noticed the weather was difficult and we actually had two nor’easters before you came in. We typically don’t rent this early in the season but knew families had limited choices for travel due to Covid restrictions so we decided to open up. Definitely surprised to read the words “run down” to describe the exterior of our fabulous beach cottage. Our family spends lots of time and energy maintaining our home and trying to make it a perfect place for our vacations and yours. We aren’t a hotel, we don’t have a “staff”. If you come during the main rental season, we’ve had time to properly prepare. Again, glad you had a great vacation and I wish the weather had been better for you.

So glad you enjoyed your two weeks at Bikini Bottom! Unfortunately “no frills” means we had to removed lots of the non essential high touch items due to Covid-19 CDC recommendations. Glad you enjoyed the pool, hot tub and gorgeous beaches!
