Dogs welcome but not that dog friendly
We always love to find a dog friendly stay and whilst the cottage accepts dogs the location of the cottage next to a very busy road was a constant worry. The garden is not fenced in and therefore each time our pup needed to go out one of us would also need to go out to mind her. So keep that in mind especially if the weather is as poor as we experienced.
The cottage itself is bijou but comfortable. Heating was incredibly efficient and effective, hot water plentiful and the wood burner a dream! However there are some areas that need updating/decorating. WiFi is excellent.
Please note that the cottage is on a very busy road so you need to follow the access recommendation.

Beautiful and comfortable cottage in Killary
The cottage we stayed in was very clean and comfortable and was perfect for us, a family of four with two teenage daughters, to explore the region. It was cosy and its location was great, as it was perched on the side of Killary fjord. The only, very minor, issue we had was the exit from the cottage grounds onto the road is on a blind bend and we thought it a little dangerous to pull out of sometimes. Other than that, it was a perfect cottage and John Joe, who we met the day before we left, was very personable and helpful.

Good location, well equipped but could do with a good clean
The service from Love Connemara Cottages was excellent - straight forward booking service with emailing of information ahead of our stay.
The property location was great, but the property itself was disappointing. It was well equipped but could have done with a good clean - dusty shelves, cobwebs, mould in the bathroom, slugs in the kitchen cupboards, etc. The bedding and towels were clean.
There was a lot of rain during our stay and the water coming through the kitchen tap was full of bits of debris so we drank bottled water instead.
(There also appears to be a lot of Japanese knotweed in the garden)

Cottage 194 Leenane
Location of cottage was perfect, the road outside was very busy all day but very quiet at night. We had food in Hamiltons and The Purple Door, it was delicious in both places and we certainly didnt need to travel further afield. Cottage suitable for our dog lots of room to run outside and not adjacent to any houses. The cottage itself was lovely, beds very comfortable. We had all we needed and because weather wasn't great we used the stove a bit which made the place nice and cosy. The bathroom however needs an update mastic around the shower tray gone black and shower not powerful enough.

This is a lovely, comfortable cottage in a beautiful location.
I enjoyed both the cottage and the location. The owner was very helpful with a couple of minor problems. The house is warm with conveniences that are (thankfully) easy to operate. The location, backing onto the Killary is beautiful. The road is busy but there is a great loop walk across the road from the cottage. It is safest to drive into Leenane. The restaurant service is friendly and the food is excellent.

Lovely holiday in Leenane
We had a very peaceful and enjoyable stay. The cottage was comfortable, clean and well fitted.
The only minor problem was that we couldn’t open the key box and, as mobile phone coverage was bad ( or non- existent in the area) we had to go into Leenane to phone from the shop or hotel to get the caretaker.
Otherwise, we were very satisfied with the cottage and its location was great.

Cottage 194 outside Leenane, Co. Galway
We were very pleased with our stay. The cottage, originally built in 1916, has been tastefully modernised but yet retains a lot of its original character. It's well equipped, warm and comfortable. The location is ideal to explore the many attractions in the area.

Lovely cottage and peaceful locatjon
I stayed here with my partner in July 2020- cottage was very clean and well equipped. The owner, John is a lovely man, very friendly and told us the history of the cottage as well as recommendations for places to go. Pity the weather wasn’t great but the lovely scenery at the back of the cottage made up for it. I would stay again.

A nice stay
A poor start in that the keys were not in the lock box. Had to ring the owner and had to sit around waiting for the keys. Entrance to property was not ideal as it was on a blind bend which allowed access from one side and proved dangerous entering and leaving.
On the plus side, very comfortable inside, everything thing you needed was there. Good tv selection. Location was idyllic backing onto the Fjord. Isolated within a cluster of trees. Good privacy. Access to Leenane ‘by car’ 5 mins. Weather was amazing which helped. Owner came promptly with the keys. Enjoyed the stay, would go back again.

Brilliant location & host
John was a great host. We stayed in the cottage for a week, really cosy with a working stove. The cottage is in a beautiful and convenient location, close to beautiful walks and just outside Leenane village. Tourist attractions are a short drive. Dog-friendly.

Cosy cottage
Us three ladies spent two nights in this beautiful little home. It was warm, welcoming ( a bottle of lovely red awaited us ) the beds were most comfortable. Yes it’s small - but quaint. Phone coverage was abysmal but that meant we spent our weekend talking!!! Central location for day trips to Kylemore ( great dinner there and very reasonable) Also a fab meal at The Seafarer in Letterfrack. Get to Leenane - this cottage experience awaits you!

Happy Stay in Leenane
Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely dog friendly cottage - even if it is close to the main road. Very comfortable and well equipped - stunning location with walks, beaches and amenities easily accessible. John Joe, the proprietor, a font of local knowledge and so helpful. Happy Days! We hope to return...

Einfach traumhaft

Snug with grest views
The site of this cottage, on the banks of Killary Fjord, makes it a perfect place place to stay. It is clean & comfortable with a wood-burning stove to keep cosy and warm on chilly evenings. A great location to enjoy all that Connemara has to offer.

A cosy cottage in a beautiful central location
The cottage was clean and tidy with all the facilities we needed. John the host checked in to have a friendly chat and ensure we had all we needed. He then left us alone to make the most of our time in this special place. It is in a beautiful quiet setting beside the Killary fiord and well removed from other buildings. It's location enabled us to explore the west coast of Ireland from Galway to Westport with Clifton and the Connemara National Park only a short drive away. Thank you Ireland and thank you John.

Leenane Cottage
From our first contact with the owner by email, through to leaving the cottage, we were made extremely welcome. The location was amazing - right on the fjord with beautiful views across the water - with the mermaid by the bridge providing another interesting vista. The cottage was well kitted out with lovely comfy beds. When you are here, make the most of the easily accessible local attractions: walk up to the waterfall where the fight scene for "The Field" was filmed, take a trip on the boat on the fjord, visit the wool centre and cafe and also the bar across the road with live music on the Sunday evening. Altogether, a smashing cottage in a lovely position.
