「A very pleasant surprise as a solo guest. Needed an overnight stay for an event in Abergavenny, went with no expectations, just needed a comfortable, clean place and that's what I got. Yes the place needs a bit of tidying up, decorating, updating of furniture but that doesn't bother me as long as everything works for it's purpose which it did. I booked a room at the back with a balcony overlooking the river and the view was wow! On the hottest Bank Holiday for years, I left the French doors...

「The receptionist was kind enough to let us park our car while we went up to Sugarloaf early in the morning. All the staff are very friendly. We had our dinner at their restaurant. Fish and chips lovely and cooked breakfast was very nice. Lovely view of the mountain from our bedroom. Room is very spacious,nice and clean. Bathroom is lovely and clean. Looking forward staying here again.」

「I mean it’s older and not in a big tourist area. It was adequate for a night. Staff was nice but they were understaffed and one person running around trying to do everything. It was ok.」

「A nice big room with ample parking. In a quiet location just outside the town. No staff on site but a key lock to each room. Spoke to staff on the phone who were very helpful to check everything was ok. 」

「The checking was easy & staff were friendly, The room is up 2 flights of stairs, it is very dated & could do with some tlc. The walls had splatter & marks where something had run down them & the bathroom was dirty in the corner. We couldn't get any hot water from the taps so used the kettle which didn't turn itself off. The toilet seat is so cheep that it bends when you sit on it. although the bedding was clean. The window cill had been burned with a cigarette by the look of it & outside the...

「Wagon was in a lovely location on a farm and owner was very nice, once I managed to find the farm , but checking in time or instructions would have been helpful . Bed was comfortable and I did appreciate the tea, sugar and milk provided , but the room itself was quite cold -with one tiny inadequate heater . Bathroom was also very cold and smelled very damp and unfortunately the toilet seat was loose and shooting off to one side. 」

「Decent apartment, aimed at long stay I’d guess. Comfy bed No toiletries, would have liked tea, coffee, milk, kitchen roll or something kitchen wise…and a dishwasher rather than a washing machine…but as I say fine for longer stay Also lounge sofa smelt bodyish Good communication though 」

「The location of the hotel is just opposite to the bus stop which is perfect for us. The hotel ia like a boutique hotel, very nicely decorated. The manager Ian and Christian is very friendly. The room is very clean and tidy and we had a wonderful stay.」

「Absolutely delightful hotel. Me and a friend booked a room each for the Hay Festival, and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The staff were wonderful; helpful, friendly, even showed us to our rooms. The location was great, not too far away but far enough that I’d was quiet and tranquil. The breakfast is well worth the money, as is the Old Barn pub across the road, where we ate that night. A fantastic stay, I can’t wait to return with my husband next time.」
