  • Welcome to the Black Hills of South Dakota!

    Established in 2016, (formerly PAMS Getaways) Frenchy's Hideaways is a locally owned campground that provides guests the perfect environment to explore, rest & relax. We strive to provide great rates to allow you to get the most out of your Black Hills experience!

    Located 2 miles south of Custer along US Hwy 385, we are at the heart of the southern Black Hills greatest attractions. Wind Cave National Park (18 miles) to the south, Custer State Park (9 miles) to the east, Jewel Cave National Monument (15 miles) to the west, along with Mt. Rushmore National Monument (23 miles) and Crazy Horse Memorial (9 miles) to our north!

Nice little place in the Black Hills, enjoyed that it was pet friendly. After a long day of hiking would have enjoyed a couch to sit on but it worked well for our trip and let us stay with our pups.

While the cabin was clean and well stocked I didn’t realize the second bedroom was a loft which meant going up some tiny staircase. This was a cabin much more suited to having little kids sleeping in the loft. I would not have stayed there had I realized that. The outside grounds were not very appealing and there was no mention of that in the description. The site was close to Custer which was nice. It was quiet which was welcome as well and I appreciated the door lock system- it was easy !

We loved our little cabin for the 3 nights we stayed! Paul the host was very kind and helpful. Perfect location for day trips to Custer, wind cave, jewel cave, mt Rushmore. It’s hard to find a place that fits a family of 5, our kids loved the loft. Highly recommend

My teenagers absolutely loved the loft area to this place . They talked about it in a couple conversations even post vacation. The host was super easy to contact as we had communication on three differant occasions always prompt to answer.very close to Custer and all its restaurants and pretty close to all the cool things in the southern black hills Great place would definitely stay here again

If Not For Location

Upon arrival our initial reaction was somewhat disturbing in that the cabins appear to be part of what can be described as a less than maintained small RV park. However the owner was very friendly and accommodating and our cabin very clean and as described. One issue while walking my small dog on a lease I was as approached by an unleased Great Dane type dog and as our dog is very cautionary around larger dogs I tried to pick my dog up. Before doing so the larger dog was at my feet and immediately atop my dog having her pinned down with its opened mouth around her neck. I yelled for the owner but had to shoved the larger dog off to the side and pickup my dog. Luckily my dog did not incur and bits.

Great, clean, cute cabin. The kitchen and bathroom had everything you need. Great size. The stairs to the loft were very steep and difficult for an adult size so be careful. We had 2 adults and 3 teenagers staying in the cabin. The loft area was difficult for them. The beds in the loft were just mattresses on the floor. Mattresses and pillows were very uncomfortable upstairs and downstairs.

Our hosts were friendly and very prompt with any request we had. Our only suggestion is to consider putting lighting above the dining room table and near the headboards for reading in bed. We would definitely recommend this property for anyone wishing to explore the beautiful Black Hills area near Custer!

Just what we needed

This cabin was the perfect for our long days out hiking and exploring. The kitchen is very roomy and allowed us plenty of space to prepared the majority of our meals. The cabin was a great refuge in the evenings; the beds were comfortable and the water heater was outstanding!

Had fun at the Hideaway !!

Housing itself was great for 4 of us. The only thing that kind of startled us when we arrived was that several older independent campers were all around our beautiful cabin. Paul did explain to me that changes in other campgrounds had caused his campground to overflow - sounded reasonable !! Paul was very easy to visit with and had just became a new daddy; again ! We would stay there again, and the prices were within reason !!

Clean “cabin” near Custer

We were spending a few days exploring Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park. This place was perfect for what we needed; a place to sleep, shower, and make our meals. The kids loved the upstairs loft area. Property was quiet and not too far from town. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for an updated, clean, and no-frills place to stay near Custer; if we ever return to the area for future trips, I would not hesitate to stay here again!

Cute little place. Liked the kitchen and bathroom. The bedroom upstairs was a challenge with the low ceiling and ladder. Bed was comfortable. Suggest maybe replacing the metal bench with a small sofa or love seat. Bench was hard to sit on. Owner was friendly and responsive to our need for towels and such. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Nice cabin

The cabin was very nice and clean. The stairs to the loft were a bit to get used to but my kids didnt have any problems. It has dishes, glasses, cups, and pots and pans. Could of used more towels, but we made due. I didnt ask for more, so that's on me. Beds were comfortable. Could not get the AC to switch oer to "cool" mode. Didnt get terribly hot in the cabin with the windows open and fan on. The outside is right next to a RV park that looks to be long term stay. The people i spoke with at the RV site were super friendly. Would stay here again.
