“After a long journey from Devon, we were met with a warm welcome at reception with keys and directions to Pheasant Lodge. The grounds we viewed as we headed in were immaculately kept with a large lake/pond with good fishing platforms in place. Brent geese and ducks had already moved in. A good play area, with some distance from the first lodge, looked safe and well maintained. The peace and expanse of this lovely spot, with 'work in progress' for a restaurant/cafe/shop, makes it definately, ……

“This is our 2nd time at the retreat. The location is excellent and plenty of wonderful walks around for us all. The home is clean and tidy and the owners yet next door do not interfere with you unless you need them.We rested and it was perfect for us - peace and quiet.”

“The property was easily located with free parking steps away. The place was cosy & perfect for an overnight stay, catching up with friends. We had everything we needed, we were warm & very comfortable. The host was quick to answer my queries & although the listing was slightly incorrect, Stephen sorted it out immediately. Thank you.”

“The place is clearly a newly rennovated farm building, perhaps to the extent of being a re-build on an existing foot print. It looks like there might end up being around 8 rental properties on site. The kitchen is well laid out, and whilst there was pleny of stuff for the three of us, I think a few top-ups might be in order if this is really intended for 4-6 people. Hot water is through a tank, so limited in quantity - there was just enough for showers (in the small downstairs bathroom) but one……

“A mixed bag: positives: house was clean and the key lock and parking was convenient, and food and drink supplies very welcome. Negatives: our booking was changed fairly last minute from “the terrace” to a different house “the Mews” for unknown reasons. (So my review is not for this listing, but for “The Mews”.) Although the house was on the same estate and also had 3 double bedrooms, one of the bedrooms was pretty small, and the original property had the master bedroom on its own top floor ,……
