Quiet and secluded

We loved our time at the Wren’s Nest. We saw a bear from the back deck (!) and made friends with the chipmunks. Perfect location to feel like you are in the nature part of CO, yet a quick drive into the town of Durango.

beautiful setting, comfortable house

The deck with a lovely view (and a sighting of a bear!) was our favorite part. The house was roomy for the four of us, the furnishings were comfortable. Our one complaint was that the kitchen wasn't very well equipped -- a coffeemaker, but no filters, for example.

House has old carpet with allergy causing conditions from pets and dirt. Kitchen is dated with old fridge and stove, they do work ok. Dinning chairs worn out at seating cushions. Upstairs bed mattresses are dated and very uncomfortable. The upstairs hall and bathroom lights did not work on arrival. The bbq grill is nasty with old grease and was unusable. The coffee pot did not fit the machine and caused issues with grounds and the water not coming thru completely. Also not staying hot do to no contact with burner. The main stairs are shaky and move side to side when using.The back deck lights did not work. The location was good for us and the house had plenty of space.The downstairs room smelled of cigarettes and had to be cleaned. Whoever cleaned it left the garage door door open all day while we were gone.

Just a couple minutes from skiing at purgatory

Very clean property. Exactly as presented in photos. No unpleasant odors anywhere which was a pleasant surprise as it is quite old and dated. Beds are very comfortable. All the appliances work great Beautiful views from every window, quiet neighborhood, feels very secluded. The driveway is incredibly steep and the snowplow gets there whenever it does so take heed to the forewarning to have a 4wd and chains I would suggest the owner take some time to organize the kitchen - there is a shortage of normal sized glasses , no steak knives, no sharp knives and no knife sharpener. There is an over abundance of plates, pots, multiple coffee makers , multiple food processors . Could use more in the way of tongs, spatulas and large serving utensils. And a bit more household supplies - we were a family of 5 for 8 nights and cooked all our meals there so ran out of trash bags and dishwasher detergent. It is great to have 2and a half baths. They notified us ahead of time there would only be 9 rolls of toilet paper so glad we brought extra .

Wrens nest

The property is in a great location. Needs some updating inside and cleaning of spider webs around the inside of house. There were a few stains on carpet and beds but overall clean property. Bathrooms were on each floor, which was nice. Views of aspen trees and lake were beautiful!

lovely house in the aspens

Love the location. This house is extremely clean. Awesome view of the stars at night with all the open windows in living area. Chipmunk were fun to watch. Bring bug repellent if outside a lot, the misquotes come out in the evening and early mornings due to the surroundings. Appliance are dated but work effectively. Furniture is also dated, a little broke down, but still comfy and clean. Ready to come back. We were the 2nd guest in this house, had some issues, but management was quick to respond to needs.
