"Not horrible, but if you can afford the extra $50 to stay somewhere better. Do it. Very basic hotel. Room was clean but it felt dirty for some reason. Old hotel. No toiletries other than hand soap. One towel, which had a long hair on it. No hand towels. I went to the front desk and they gave me, in his words. Their last towel. It was clean and he gave me a hand towel. Shower was good though. Water was super hot. No complaints there. Hotel was fine for the night, but I wont be back. I only stayed here because it was cheap, i was only showering, sleeping and checking out the next day. nice photos on the website. But they dont match actual location. A couple of positives. It is located right off freeway and everything is close by. Slept fine, quiet outside."

"East County gem. This is the 3rd time that I have stayed at Ayers Lodge, and it is truly a gem in East County. The rooms are clean (and now renovated,) the amenities are wonderful! (There is a sitting area outside, along with tables and chairs, a BBQ grill, as well as a fire pit. They have a great breakfast with a large selection, as well as chocolate chip cookies every night. The property is quiet and secluded despite being right by the freeway. There is a shuttle that will take you to and from Viejas Casino if you want to go there. This hotel is also close to several bars and restaurants. Definitely my go-to lodging when I come back home to visit. "
