"East village hotel is a gem if you are looking to stay in the area in a “budget.” Easy keyless access. Note that there is no staff on site except for daily housekeeping. Rooms were clean and having a kitchen, although we were too busy to use it was a nice touch. Be prepared to hike up stairs with luggage as there is no elevator. Luckily we were on first floor meaning only about 20 narrow steep stairs. We requested a low floor with reservations directly for an $25 fee. This is based on...

Great location and Great Staff
"The STAFF is amazing, courteous and always smiling and wiling to help. The room needs updating, carpet was old and dingy (cannot vacuum anymore). Bathroom is old but clean. It is in a very convenient location close to shops, metro, bus stops and Central Park. We walked almost everywhere. Again the staff's attitude is what I really enjoyed in this hotel. "
