What is a historic hotel like in Edinburgh?
A historic hotel gives guests the opportunity to stay in a building recognised with an official historic designation. Historic hotels throughout the world can take the form of stately homes, palaces or even lodges, old police stations or skyscrapers — any building that's been identified as being of special interest. These types of hotels in Edinburgh often retain authentic characteristics such as period features or traditional architecture within the guestrooms or public spaces.
What is the difference between a historic hotel and a heritage hotel?
They are quite similar. "Historic hotel" is a term often used in the US, while you'll often hear "heritage hotel" in Asia and Europe. Do historic hotels in Edinburgh have modern facilities?
Yes, efforts are made to preserve the historic aspects and traditions, but hotel interiors are fitted with modern conveniences and safety features.
