The property was absolutely gorgeous and meticulously maintained—it truly checked every one of our needs for this trip. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by how beautiful and well-kept everything was.The hosts' kindness and attentiveness were just as impressive. Shelby was an amazing host—always there to help if we encountered any issues and full of fantastic recommendations for both day hikes and local food.After a long day of hiking, the comfortable beds were extremely inviting. We especially appreciated the expansive property, where we were able to sit outside and relax. The location is perfect, being only a mile or two from the Endless Wall Trail.As for dining, we took Shelby's advice and would highly recommend Cathedral for breakfast, and Pies and Pints and Secret Sandwich Society for dinner.This was a truly wonderful trip that will stay in our memories forever. We would highly, highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful, comfortable stay with outstanding hosts!

The place is absolutely gorgeous, it is close to many things to do and I cannot recommend this place enough to anyone who needs a place to stay. The deer and turkeys visited everyday, and birds were plentiful. Our dog enjoyed the walk around.

The Cardinal Cottage is as adorable and serene as the photos and description claim. The location is so convenient to all the sites yet secluded and abundant with wildlife. We saw many deer and turkeys during our time there. Our host Shelby was most gracious and accommodating with our stay. We will definitely stay here again when visiting New River Gorge.

Amazing and clean house with lots of room outdoors. We saw turkeys and deer everyday. Shelby was easy to reach and a wonderful host. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay!

Perfect location for a peaceful stay near New River Gorge. It is close to everything … restaurants in Fayetteville, Adventures on the Gorge, Babcock State Park, and even Summersville Lake.

My family and I loved our stay at the Cardinal Cottage. The location made for easy access to everything the New River Gorge has to offer, and we were able to bring our dogs along for the adventure. I'm sure we will be booking another stay at the cottage in the future.

First off. This property is within the national park with a plethora of hikes and scenic overlooks that are all under a 30 min drive. The house was very comfortable and clean. The property was private with wildlife all around. After a long day of hiking or rafting the hot tub was the perfect end. I would come back

Favorite Vacation Cabin!

I’m very picky about cleanliness and details. Compared to other places we’ve stayed, this was my favorite. We wanted to experience the eateries in the area, and I was on vacation from cooking, so we didn’t use much in the lovely kitchen besides coffee mugs and a few glasses and silverware. Nearly everything was provided that we needed and then some. Would book it again, for sure!

Wonderful long weekend stay.

My family really enjoyed our stay at this lovely house in a great location. It is great proximity to a variety of activities, restaurants, and shopping and the hot tub was a great way to unwind after a long day of outdoor activities. Would definitely stay here again when we visit in the future.

Nicely furnished cottage!

Loved the property! Learned a valuable lesson about GPS in the area though! We quickly figured out that taking Lansing Edmond Rd. To Route 19 is the best way to get anywhere!! Lots of one lane, mostly gravel roads around the area. The cottage was so comfortable! Great sleeping! Owner was very responsive.

Peaceful and Serene

The Cardinal Cottage was an awesome escape. It had all we needed in a beautiful location. We loved the privacy, peace, and the views of deer, turkeys, and birds. Cardinal Cottage is a Winner!

Awesome property! Bright and fresh with lots of natural light. Beautiful large kitchen with plenty of cookware and dishes. We appreciated the gate at the deck stairs so we could relax in the hot tub without worrying that our fur baby would wander off. Convenient to the New River Gorge area.

Family vacation to explore the New River Gorge

We stayed with our 2 young kids and dog and came to explore the New River Gorge National Park. The location was perfect and close to the Gorge, visitor center, and minutes from the Endless Wall Trail! We enjoyed a fire in the fire pit and watching the sun set from the property. The kitchen was well equipped and had a very nice gas range! We had a great stay and the Gorge offered spectacular views from the trails and overlooks.

Lovely stay in a winter wonderland!

My husband, pup, and I stayed here a few nights after the new year. The cabin was such a lovely place to watch the snowfalls. We also loved bird watching and seeing the deer. Kitchen was well-stocked so we stayed put, relaxing and playing games. Thank you for a relaxing start to 2025!

Wonderful place to Stay

We really enjoyed our stay at this house. It was super clean and met all our families needs and wants. The hot tub was very clean and a nice addition to our stay. Beds were comfy and we had everything we needed in the kitchen. Thank you to the owner who even decorated for Christmas as we were having a Christmas get together with our son and his family, and the house was just perfect! Our grandson loved the game room. You will not be disappointed with this rental!

Lovely property with great assets

We’ve stayed there two years in a row to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends. The kitchen is perfect for cooking large meals and well stocked with cooking equipment. The dining room table is placed in front of a row of windows that provide a lovely view of woods. We love the back porch which looks out over woods and large grassy areas. We saw lots of deer. The bedrooms are simple but warm, with the perfect amount of hooks and drawers to easily unpack. The layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms are well situated to provide privacy, especially since the house isn’t particularly large. We had a manual wheelchair user in our party and he was able to get up on the front porch and into the house easily with a small portable ramp we brought. After that he could access the rest of the house and back porch. There’s also a separate game room and hot tub, but we didn’t use those. We were too busy cooking and eating and working a puzzle in the Cosy common space. We really enjoyed this house for the four of us. It could easily handle a couple more people and still be comfortable.
