Karuna has the most majestic views! It is perched on the side of the mountain. We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff are very attentive and helpful. They are very quick to assist with excursions and ride to town. They have an infinity pool that has a great view and a restaurant next to it. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Shower is outdoor overlooking the water. Inactive seniors, disabled and families with small children need caution because of uphill terrain and stairs. We didn’t have any issues as those situations didn’t apply to us. Special thank you to Ellen for all your help coordinating our rides and giving us information about the resort. Thank you Karuna for the wonderful time at your resort!

Karuna Villa made our first visit to El Nido a very pleasant vacation. Staff was super friendly and helpful with all our questions and needs. They were very responsive when requesting transportation to and from downtown El Nido or closer destinations. Our Joglo was roomy and comfortable enough for our family of 5. The view of the bay was amazing especially during sunsets. I would recommend staying in Joglo 2 since it is right in the middle of the main office and restaurant/pool. Karuna was a great place to stay and would recommend it for anyone visiting El Nido.

Staff service is awesome, Sarifa, Julieann and Lester at the Reception Area, Benjie the driver and Ellen at the restaurant, all gave an excellent service. They are gem in this incredible place called Karuna.

We were at the pool area enjoying our food and the bottle we bought when the shareholder came to nag at us and when we tried to let her know we wanted to let her know about the transportation experience she was getting loud that other guests can hear our conversation and she kept talking over us. Overall the front desk, drivers, bartenders, servers and other staff of the property were welcoming and kind. The shareholder made us feel very unwanted.

We think you forgot to mention that despite theres already music being played on an acceptable volume level in the pool and restaurant area, you disregarded MULTIPLE requests to lower down the volume blasting out of your speaker stating that you are the only guests around, despite the fact that there are other 4 groups of guests. We are happy to know that in this review, you acknowledge their presence when it suits you. We are delighted to see that you are enjoying your bottle of liquor but we also have to remind you to lower down your music as you are ruining the tranquility of the other guests, and the place, by treating the restaurant as your own club with the volume and kind of music you are playing. Our shareholder has to stand her ground, and her right, to talk to you, as the title of Manager is not enough for your group. When you realized that she is not going to put up with your loud music and conversations, you changed the topic about a COMPLIMENTARY transportation service you enjoyed couple of times, and started to complain just because it was not available for your group at ONE TIME. It should also be noted, that it was the THREE of you, arguing in your loud voice, over one lady's. We suggest for you to be more mindful of your surroundings and actions next time to avoid the feeling of being unwanted. Rest assured that we take constructive feedback, and improve where we can. Overall we were very happy with this hotel and we would stay here again. Gorgeous views, comfortable beds, delicious food, friendly service. The free car service was very useful. The only issue we had was that our air conditioning did not work. We mentioned it a few times to the staff and they said they checked it, but our room wouldn't get below 80 degrees F and the staff did not have solutions for us. Our family was in another suite and we know their air conditioning worked very well, so the issue was specific to our room.

Very nice place with picturesque views of the bay. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Lester worked very hard to find us a private boat tour of the islands last minute. (If you arrive after 5pm ask them to set up a tour before you get there). We almost missed the best day with no rain for the tour but Lester came through in the clutch. Not much to complain about except the lounge chairs on the patio had stains. Needs a little cleaner sprayed on them. Everywhere you want to go on the resort is either uphill or downhill. It’s not that hard to manage but if you are old or disabled you might look elsewhere. All in all it is a great place with wonderful views and services. Tip: Building 4&5 are situated the highest with best views.

My son bite by unknown animal while we were sleeping, by the time we all turned on all the lights it was gone , bite marked looks like snake , luckily it was not venomous otherwise I’ll be crazy by now , to make the story short it was nightmare ….

Good day. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to answer your review. You went on an island hopping the day before your early check out. It was known that your son hurt himself on one of the corals. The next day, you claim that the said boy was bitten by some animal, so you have to do an early check out to go back to Manila. We assisted you in one of the clinics in El Nido who also said, it was not an animal bite. Yet, you insisted to go as you were panicking and you want to have a tetanus shot. We also refunded you the un-used days. We are disappointed to know that your stay with us ,as well as our consideration and assistance, was a nightmare for you. Regardless, we hope that you and your family are feeling better now.

This property exceeded our expectations. From the staff all the way to our private Villa! We have our own privacy the bedrooms, beds are plenty for our group of 6. The infinity pool and the view of the sunset is just gorgeous. Will highly recommend this property to anybody looking for a great resort. The restaurant food was great too.

Resort is on a hill. Many steps to the rooms and restaurant and pool but, I liked the exercise. Outdoor soaking tub and shower, both with a view is wonderful.

Let’s start with the good. The view is spectacular and the property is kept in a good condition. The rooms are big and comfortable with air con, a kitchen and outdoor shower and bath. The guys on transfers were great. However, if you’re after a complete 5 star resort then you may be disappointed. The food in the restaurant was poor and items weren’t available for the duration of the stay. Service was minimal and ‘sorry’ seems to be the Philippine response to feedback/complaints. There was a unit under construction right next to ours which reduced our privacy in the outdoor areas and general maintenance and upkeep could be improved Not the hotel’s fault, but be aware that there are daily power outages due to local load shedding. Inconvenient but you would experience this wherever you stayed in Palawan Overall we’d give the hotel a 3.5/5 and the amenities a 2/5 If this resort wants to truly be valued as a 5* then they really need to up their game

Gorgeous Property and View
What a beautiful resort! The location and view is to die for. The property is on a hill overlooking the water and islands. The sunset is picture perfect. The Jooglo 2 Villa we stayed is of Balinese style. Our family of five felt we were transported to Bali. We enjoyed the ocean from our balcony. The crew and customer service are excellent. Kudos to Sarifa and Angy for the warm welcome from the front desk and for helping us book the private van and island tour. The restaurant service and food are excellent too. Thanks Clark and Royge! Highly recommend Karuna when visiting El Nido.

By far the best Resort we have ever stayed at in the Philippines. Everyone talks about the steep hill.... the problem isn't the steep hill. It is the 10000 cheeseburgers you ate in the two weeks before meeting the hill. BUT - there is a call button at the bottom push it and wait for them to get you! Don't skip this place. You won't regret it. We ate for 5 days (no alchohol) for 150 bucks... and the food was spectacular. I even trusted the water (sort of). Anyways - have fun and go to Karuna!

The place is not easily accessible to the main road. I know the villas are in a cliff but hard to go up and down to go to main road. They have a tricycle to bring you down to the main road . We were told that coming back up to the villa we have to use the intercom at the bottom of the cliff entrance and they will send a tricycle to take as up. We came back at 9:30 pm and the intercom was not working. My husband and I have to walk up in darkness. It was kind of scary. We were short of breath when we reached the front desk. The receptionist on duty said they did not hear anything that maybe the intercom run out of battery. She did apologized and she is really nice . I was not upset with her but I was upset with the situation. I will not recommend Karuna . I will recommend Maramegmeg resort.

We stayed in Joglo 2 for twelve nights and it was honestly the nicest place we have ever stayed. The attention to detail in these villas is beautiful. They are well thought out and very spacious, and the view is spectacular. We made sure we were home to watch the sunset from the balcony every evening. The landscape gardening around the property is a beautiful mix of organised jungle! It is a bit of a climb from the main road, but we had a 125cc scooter, which had no problem carrying us both up the driveway. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Stay for one night, stay for one month; you will love it!

Great private villa stay with view!
Great stay, very private feel. Met the owners, very nice. And staff very accommodating in making sure we have our needs, even food delivery for the free breakfast. Only sucky side was the steep hill to access the hotel, which makes it tricky for which tricycle to ride that can handle it or offer fair price. the view is beautiful esp for Corong Corong beach!

Overall very disappointing. View and pool are nice. That’s where it ends. There’s no pool bar at all. They said there is. But there isn’t. Hot water is either scolding hot or cold. WiFi kicks you off every time you don’t use it for 5 seconds. Breakfast always delivered cold. Cold eggs? No thanks. They shut our water off, after several calls over 4-5 hours, they finally came and checked. Someone just shut the water off to our unit. No explanation, they actually laughed about it. Stay somewhere else, for less money. You’ll be much happier.

It’s still a work in progress. The staff were excellent, very accommodating and helpful, although the they seemed under staffed. We stayed in the Joglo, which was amazing and had everything we needed. However, the aircon wasn’t powerful enough for the big room and never cooled down. Beautiful room with breathtaking view! The steep hill to get to the rooms was a little challenge but totally worth it for the price and the privacy of the room! The pool was great! The staff was very friendly. I would recommend this place to everyone!

Incredibly high quality finish to these villas, short walk up a steep hill to access the resort but it’s well worth it for the great view. The staff would so helpful with arranging transfers, breakfast and moped hire. Can’t wait to go back.

Thank you for staying at Karuna El Nido. We do not serve food at the hotel. The food are just delivered from restaurants in the area. Prices are normal for a touristic area. We have a description that our place is situated up the hill, otherwise there will no spectacular ocean view if we are down the road.

I never take the time to write reviews; however I was overly pleased with the accommodations and staff. I stayed in unit one which was a spectacular villa with a fully equipped mini kitchen for all the essentials, an excellent indoor/outdoor bathroom with luxury shower and over-sized tub. Having lived in the Philippines for nearly ten years, Customer Service isn't always the best, but Kuruna sets themselves apart by providing superior service regardless of time or day. The owner/builder is American, and you can certainly tell by the craftsmanship and the fact that instructs his staff to take care of his customers. I fell in love with the place and the service, that I am considering purchasing a villa of my own as it truly is a piece of paradise with beautiful views and SPECTACULAR service. Thank you Kuruna for an awesome week!

Private pool villa with a awesome view
The private pool villa is very big with beautiful view as well. Staff are all very polite and friendly especially Mr White! Even the boss and lady boss are friendly! The staff actually drove us to town area when we requested. The hotel is actually at up hill so every day walking back to the room is a struggle. But for that view, it’s worth the walking! We also get to know that this villa just open few months ago. Everything was good but a lot of insect flying around in the bathroom. One of the bathroom has bat and big black spider while the other one has bees flying around. Bathroom are semi open concept, but there is construction next to the villa and therefore a lot of workers walking around and can be seen from our bathroom. Quite dangerous in a way when u need to go toilet or shower. And also basically the main door of the villa cannot be close ( wrong door size ) and it opens up by itself when the wind are too strong and which people can walk in and see easily when we are bathing at 1 of the bathroom. The hot water only limited to maybe 1 min and you have to off the tap and on back again for the hot water. Throughout the stay, our TV doesn’t work, asked the staff to fix but they can only fix when we check out. Quite disappointed in this part. A handphone was provided to contact front desk but just on our last day, there is no more credit to call out. Many painting in the room, my friend felt uneasy with it but I’m fine with it. Anyway I still have a present stay here.

Thank you for staying with us. We always make sure that our guests are comfortable. All the bathrooms are open as this is a Balinese designed villa. Insects are inevitable since we are in the middle of a forest. Apologies for the TV. We are having door fixed as I write. We appreciate your comments to make us aware of the things we need to improve.

Great place !
We had a greag stay at karuna. The property is beautiful and the management team super friendly. A few minutes after we arrived the owner stop by to say hello and make himself available for anything we needed. He was very helpful in assisting us to book a privae boat trip and gave us great tips about the island. When i got sick (yeah, the water and food in El Nido can get you really sick), he was very helpful getting us a ride to the local hospital and checked on me several times. My husband and I were also very impressed with the beautiful bangalôs and incredible view. We would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family and hope to be back soon.

Beautiful view
Beautiful place surrounded by nature. Amazing view from the top of coron coron. But if you don’t ride a motorbike like me you have to walk to the top of the hill and it can be a bit exhausting

Enjoyed. New hotel...
Beautiful hotel, near beach. Still finishing up a few items but the hotel working diligently to make it perfect. Reco a shuttle to beach (downhill) and an improved menu and breakfast plus an opportunity to purchase drinks, snacks etc
