"Clean and updated property. Plenty of parking for a truck pulling a large Uhaul trailer
Dog friendly, no extra charge. Wood laminate flooring in rooms, good (not memory foam) mattress and bedding, plump pillows. Breakfast buffet, juice, coffee, milk cereal, toast, bagels, scrambled eggs and bacon, biscuits and gravy served 5:00 AM til 10:00 AM. Lots of restaurants within steps of motel. Shuttle to and from Casino. At least $100 less per night than a room in San Diego proper."
"This place is perfect if you are visiting from out of town for any events! We attended the local Sweat Ceremony held by Southern Indian Health Council only 8 minutes away from the motel. Very small town but has everything you need. The check in process was very simple, and the attendant was sure to assist us with all of our needs. The room was very cozy and had a well working AC and the window scenery was perfect as well! I read some of the past reviews and I am not sure what some of the people are referring to as "creepy". It IS a small rural town and not the big city! I will definitely be staying here again when we come for the future sweat ceremonies! PS Cowboy coffee is ALSO only 8 minutes away and opens up at 6:30am and the coffee and service there is super delightful!"
"We were greeted by the owner, a sweet, helpful lady who took us in and showed us around. She gave us fresh eggs that her hens laid and said if we needed anything to just ask. She had a booklet that she printed, telling us everything to see and do in the area. The kitchen was furnished with coffee, creamer and all different condiments. In the cabin there were games and movies. It is a lovely area in the mountains with plenty of trees, something we don't see in Arizona. Such a relaxing stay. Additionally, she welcomed our little dog. He was happy and so were we."

10/10 Excellent
"Staying at the High Desert Retreat is so fun. It’s very close to San Diego but feels like a different world. The acreage around the property is a wonderful place to hike around and explore. I love coming here for a long weekend and will be back."
