We have been to a lot of cabins in the North Georgia area, and this one ranks at the top of the list. It hit nearly every item on our checklist...in some cases far surpassing what we expected.
The first and most amazing feature is the outdoor space. You cannot beat it. This cabin is not near the river, it is ON the river. I mean, literally three feet from the river. And it certainly lives up to the "Rushing River" name, as it is surrounded by rapids which create a very relaxing sound. The outdoor patio which wraps around the back and side of the house has a large dining table on the side, and a couch, multiple chairs, a swinging chair, and bar with stools overlooking the river. We sat out here every evening. If it had not been so cold, we might have stayed out there the entire time...it was just perfect. There are two propane heaters which helped quite a bit on the really cold evenings. The large hot tub is on the rear side of the patio and has good privacy from the river.
The outdoor space also includes a nice fire pit area which we never got to use, and a little sandy beach area with steps down into the water for when it's warmer. Our son loved throwing rocks into the river. We have already discussed coming back when it's warm out.
Inside is also well-appointed. The kitchen was very well stocked, with nearly every piece we needed, and very nice appliances. I would have liked a nicer microwave, but that's pretty minor.
The living room had comfortable furniture and a nice smart TV with all the streaming services on it (you need your own logins). A nice addition was the remote control fireplace, which we used in the evenings. The dining area had a nice big table which was great for not only eating, but playing a lot of board games.
The master bedroom is small with just a queen bed, but it was sufficient for us. It has double doors which open out to the patio and the river, but it was too cold for us to leave them open. It's not shown in the photos, but the master does have a smart TV in it as well. The master bathroom also had a selection of beach towels in it, which was a nice touch.
Upstairs, there is another bedroom and full bathroom. Our son loved this bedroom since it has two beds, I think a full and a twin. Note that the is no TV in this room even though it shows one in the photos. Our son particularly loved the little balcony off this bedroom which had a couple of small chairs he could sit in to read his books or look the river. One odd thing...there is a window from this bedroom into the main living space. We managed to cover it with a towel as we didn't want light keeping the kid up, or for him to peer out at us. Would be nice if they put in something that could cover this.
The cabin is in the Coosawattee River Resort. We know from previous visits that you must have a card to use the facilities like the indoor pool, gym, and mini golf, but we did not find anything related to this at the cabin, or anything even referring to the amenities. That was rather disappointing.
Getting there... Do not attempt to get here after drinking. There are some very long and winding roads leading to the cabin, with very sharp dropoffs. It was like being on a rollercoaster! It is not a drive you will want to make for a quick run, so make sure to stock up before going. Note that Google Maps DOES NOT lead you to the correct location. We could not find the cabin upon arrival. Apple Maps does appear to give correct directions.
Overall, our experience at this cabin was fantastic. We loved every minute and were very sad to leave. The few small annoyances mentioned above were very minor and didn't affect our trip at all. I just hope that they will add the resort amenities in the future.
