"The property was nicely maintained. One of the two restaurants were open with pretty good food. Pool was closed. Unable to locate ice machine with inadequate directions from hotel staff. Restaurant was kind enough to fill our ice bucket. Good parking. Quiet property."
"The check in was great! Albert upgraded us to a cottage which was a nice surprise. I was disappointed with the food selection at the buffet. There was only one fish item (catfish) which was very mushy. I am a pescatarian and would love more seafood choices or maybe even a vegan burger.
We used the pool 2 separate times and thoroughly enjoyed it. My only complaint was the used towel bin was overflowing to the point where you couldn't put another towel inside. Very unsightly. Not to mention inconvenient. My husband asked a question about the pool to the guy replenishing the towels (no, he didn't empty the full bin) and he said he didn't know, he's just the "pool guy". Well, that's why we asked him!!! Then we saw the sign on the gate explaining where the water comes from, etc. I think the employees should direct people to the sign if they don't know the answer. Also, when we got to our cottage there were 2 vacuum cleaners sitting in the roadway in front of the unit across from us. Not very nice to look at. For the prices of this hotel, I feel you can do better."
"Air conditioning could not be changed to cooler setting and my room was hotter than I prefer. The room was on the third floor directly beneath the sun deck terrace for star gazing. The location was perfectly close to library and dining which was kept cooler. I enjoyed the mineral pool immensely during daylight hours and the food was available until 5pm."
"The convenience of the tents and cots already being up and ready-to-go is great however, inside the tent was dirty. The concrete floor hadn’t been swept, the walls of the tent were dirty with accumulated dirt, dust, and hair. The bed had mouse droppings on it when we arrived. We get we were camping but when paying for a ready-to-go tent, we did expect it to be clean. The site was adequate and came with a fire pit and picnic table. The restrooms were close by but they too need some attention. The women’s restroom had a lot of spiders, mostly daddy long legs but also a wolf spider. I went in and knocked down all the spider webs as they were surrounding the toilets but they were back within a couple hours. The sinks were covered in dirty underwear and trash people left behind. It did eventually get cleaned the next day. There is a separate outhouse with a flushable toilet that was much cleaner. The staff were nice at the general store and restaurant. Fuel prices were the most reasonable in Death Valley. The general store offers ice and firewood. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes."
Panoramic and solitary views of the Badwater Basin and Panamint Valley, especially stunning at sunset, offer rewards at the end of a washboard-like drive.
