Nicely renovated old style motel. Hot shower, comfortable bed, fresh hot coffee in the morning and a room rate at the lower end of the range is exactly what I’m looking for in an overnight stop along the expressway.

Basic Stay

The place is conveniently located near the east of St. Louis. The staff attends to our needs. However, I was surprised that there was an added service fee of USD 30 that was added to the fee that was to be paid onsite. The cleanliness of the bathroom can be improved. i just also hope that the inn could also add an electric water kettle. But overall, it provides the basic services.

Good for the price

I booked the room because I needed an inexpensive room for one night in the St. Louis area. It was the least expensive hotel in the area. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The clerks were friendly and efficient.

Didn’t need anything fancy. Going to the races nearby. Room was clean. Appeared to be freshly painted and bathroom appeared to be recently updated with new tile, tub and fixtures. Not many channels on tv. Didn’t really matter to me. Tile on floor not grouted to surface so gaps between tile had dirt in them. Need bigger waste basket. Would probably stay there again for next years race.

In transition.

Old Route 66 place in a run down neighborhood, but rooms have been updated nicely. With the budget. No matter how you make your reservation, even paid in full, they will request a $100 cash or credit card deposit - big problem for travelers on a budget - and the deposit return doesn’t credit for a day or more. Junky check in office. Draws a lot of transients, but I can see they have spent the money to upgrade the rooms nicely.

Absolutely do not recommend booking here. First off, hotel is in a terrible location. Secondly we got to the hotel later because we were driving 8 hours to get there. Front desk would not allow us to check in stating “our reservation has expired” despite us being in the check in window stated on the Travelocity information. Hotel would not refund us either stating it was a non refundable booking. Luckily I had booked travel insurance so I’m trying to get the money back that way. Overall I’m disgusted with this property and would not recommend anyone ever to book here. You’re way better off staying at the Hampton. It’s close in price in a better location and the staff are way nicer. Oh and they’ll actually let you check in.

Modern and updated room…

The hotel is in a nice, quiet spot with easy access to the highway. The grounds are clean. I enjoyed the goodie bag when I checked in. The room was nicely updated; all new paint, appliances, etc. it was very clean. The only downside was the room was quite sparse. There was a bed and that was all there was for furniture. There was no place to sit unless you sat on or in the bed. There was definitely room for a nice sofa chair or two. There also were no nightstands; no place to set a phone or cup, etc. Also, there was no plug at the sink to use any sort of grooming supplies. Not game changers, just room tomorrow the comfort of the stay. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised how nice and modern the room was.

Not a Royal Relaxing Inn

For the money, we didn't expect much. The room was dark and dreary, water stains all over the carpet. The only positive thing I can say is that the bedding was clean, and the bed was comfortable. However, we are wondering why this room was even offered to us as we were not able to take a shower because the on/off knob was missing. All there was, was the metal stump that a person/plumber would attach the knob to. In addition, the shower/tub was heavily chipped/rusting. The shower curtain only had 5 rings out of a standard 12. This is a cheap $3.00 improvement to have 12 rings. The shower curtain itself was pretty gross - dried up plastic. Unfortunately I have deleted the pictures I took. The reason I took pictures in the first place was that we did not want to have to pay for the items that were broken or missing, which include the shower on/off knob! And to add to this, we had to pay a damage deposit of $100 for a place that didn't have much more to damage. Sad. When we checked in, it kind of looked like a convenience store in a high crime area with plexiglass between the employee and the guest, where they handed the tv remote to us under the glass. Perhaps this is in a high crime area, but honestly, it did look pretty nice outside. It was pretty shocking to see the interior of this place. This is the first place we ever stayed where we left as soon as we could, hours before checkout time. We were there for the eclipse. Comfort Inn was less expensive, and a lot nicer!

There was no dresser, table or chair in the room. Just a bed with large mirrors at both ends and no secondary lock/latch on the door. Also, bed only had fitted sheet and bedspread, no top sheet. My wife was displeased and will find different lodging on her travels.
