We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey a stress-free experience. Follow our tips and tricks and you'll be breezing through the airport and exploring Birkenau before you know it.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First and foremost, pack in your passport, travel docs, wallet and medications. Next, you'll want some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A juicy novel and a tablet crammed with your favorite movies are always good options. If you hope to catch a few z's, a quality neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also be useful. Finally, squeeze in a few toiletry items to ensure you step off the plane looking fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and matches, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Don layers of natural-fiber clothing and pack a sweater in case it gets cool in the cabin. Pick a pair of roomy, flat shoes as your feet may swell during the flight. Leave the stilettos and hiking boots in your checked baggage.
- You've probably heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. There are plenty of ways to reduce your risk. Wear a pair of compression socks or tights, drink plenty of water and get your legs and feet moving. Do a lap or two of the cabin or perform some stretches in your seat.
