We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey as pain-free as possible. Follow our tips and tricks and you'll be cruising through the airport and discovering Hotel Tutto in no time flat. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a great experience if you carry the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletries, such as lip balm and hand cream, a spare change of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, any medications and maybe a quality neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to take your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have a pocket knife lurking in the bottom of your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include explosive or flammable substances, such as bleach and fuel, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane are no place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and pick shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to remove.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Wander around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
