Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well enough. We've compiled a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Matao holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a cruisy experience if you take the right stuff. First things first, you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a clean pair of socks and a good read. Secondly, leave space in your hand luggage for your phone and charger, any medications and maybe a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to take your passport, travel documents and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Make sure you don't have sharp objects (like a pocket knife) hiding in one of the compartments of your carry-on luggage. Other prohibited items include explosive or flammable products, such as bleach and fuel, and liquids and gels in containers with a capacity of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfy clothing and go for shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to remove.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
