No matter where you’re coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you prepare well enough. We’ve compiled a list of essential travel tips that will help get your Spruce Head vacation started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be a comfortable experience if you carry the right things. First of all you’ll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare pair of socks and a few magazines. Next, find room in your carry-on bag for your phone and charger, your medications and maybe a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items differs between air carriers, the general rule to follow is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes box cutters, razor blades, spray paint and fireworks. Sports equipment like bows and arrows, and items that could harm other people, such as pepper spray and firearms, aren’t allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to make yourself as comfortable as you can. Layer up in natural fibers and remember to bring a cardigan in case it gets cold in the cabin. Go for a pair of flat, slightly roomy shoes as it’s possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your checked baggage.
- Most of us have heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by reduced mobility or inactivity. There’s lots you can do to lower your risk. Wear a good-quality pair of compression tights or socks, drink plenty of water and keep your legs and feet moving. Walk around the cabin when possible or perform exercises in your seat.
