Birthday beach getaway
The property had character and charm. The listing felt a bit misleading considering how dated the property was inside. Pros- huge yard for our pup, A/C was awesome and kept the place cool, ceiling fans in all rooms. Cons- with a huge fear of spiders, I saw several inside. Felt dated. Porch area was not cleaned up and filled with leaves, tarp that debris all over it etc

We appreciate your review and feedback on the property. It is advertise as a Folly Beach cottage and featured as such in it's photos. The home being kept more to its original features by the home owners, is part of it's charm. The house is on a quarterly pest control service, but we are on an island and with the rain we have been having, we would have been happy to call them back to service the property again if needed, had we know. The property is also surrounded by many beautiful trees that offer great shade around the yard and patios, so the leaves are hard to keep off the patios, but if they were not cleared when you arrived we would have been happy to send someone out. Our goal is to always have our guests experience a 5 star stay and if there is ever anything that needs to be taken care of at the property, we are here to assist and just a phone call away. It was a pleasure hosting your group and we hope that you enjoyed your stay on Folly Beach.

A Perfect 10
Loved the house, loved the location and loved the stay. I especially liked the nod to the family’s heritage and history through the art work and photos. The property had character and everything needed for a comfortable stay. It was a quiet neighborhood with a short walk to the beach easy for our 4 & 5 year olds. There were fresh flowers on the table when we arrived that made for a very nice welcome. I would definitely book this property again.

Perfect beach house!
The house was amazing. Felt like a real beach house and not a newly built rental property. It had character and was such a great home away from home. The outdoor shower was amazing and we loved how the public beach access is literally right outside our front door. Would 10/10 recommend and absolutely plan to rent again!!

Grandma's Cozy Costal Crib
Charming, older home with a beachy vibe. The kitchen gives you the feeling of being at grandma's . Loved the view from all the windows, the sloping floors and all the decor that helped us appreciate the obvious nostalgia the owner feels for this home. House was clean and well stocked and the location is perfect! The only suggestions I could make would be to upgrade to a Keurig coffee maker and provide tissues.

Xmas family time
Nice old house with a lot of character. Close to the beach and downtown shopping/restaurants. Loved the 3 showers and washer/dryer right there. Would recommend it !

Bare Bones house
Clean, nice linens, but bring all food and coffee. Would have been nice to have daily coffee supplies at least. Good cooking pots, pans, knives - not dull. Plenty of lanai space; can hear waves from inside bedroom. Good heating; we stayed in Nov. We asked the lawn care service to stop mowing on a quiet Sun afternoon, though, and he did. A block from the beach. Be sure to check out the sunrise - beautiful. Don't miss that there are two showers and a sink and toilet under the house in case you have a lot of people. Bring your own shampoo; none supplied, but there was none promised. You can walk to town for eats, but drive to a grocery store. You can also drive to town and there is parking in Nov; I imagine there is no parking in high season. We liked Taco Boy and especially the Crab Shack.

Even better than advertised!
This property was exactly what we expected with one exception - it was cleaner than any rental we've ever had! The indoor and outdoor spaces were spotless and we could tell the owners took great pride in keeping the house in perfect shape. We highly recommend this property!

Beautiful gem minutes from the beach
Check in was a breeze. Location is perfect for a quiet family getaway. Only 2 minutes from the beach. Beach area is surrounded by natural rock walls and is light traffic, unlike the busy center street area. House was comfy and well appointed. Kitchen is open and has a view of the marsh across the street. Large TVs with standard apps kept us entertained while inside. Only 1 shower (2 bathrooms) upstairs but the downstairs shower was comfy and allowed everyone space. The appliance were all in working order and the washer/dryer worked fine. Plenty of parking from the back entrance. Rented a golf cart which was handy exploring the island. Large fig tree with ripe fruit was a great surprise! Deck was shaded and a great place to relax. Only negative is that we found a few persistent ants in the kitchen which is expected in a warm summer climate. I would stay here again.

Perfect family stay
The house is nice just how it was described. Walking distance from the beach is literally 2 minutes. The shops and restaurants were like a 20 minute walk which made it quite at the house not like in town. I would rent a golf cart next time it was too long of a walk for us and our little ones. Having a shower right off the path to the beach was the best and laundry room was right there too! Plenty of outdoor seating on the back porch and screened in porch in the front. The fans and the ac worked no problem. It was very private up in the trees I rarely saw other people. It has a nice driveway it could easily fit multiple cars. We had a perfect stay I plan on returning.

The photos shown were obviously old, it currently looks more worn. The house needs some updating. The thermostat was locked at 70, way too hot for such an old house with single pane windows and doors. The ceiling in the living room leaked when it rains hard. Loved the back porch and great location to the beach!! With some updates this house would be great!

a great old beach cottage
I drove by early just to see where the house was and just by pure luck, the owner was there. Just finishing up cleaning a bit. He realized who we were and flagged me into the driveway. Introduced himself, he was a super nice guy. Showed us around a bit and asked if we had any questions. I could tell afterwards this must be his familys own cottage, with pictures dating back to 1919 (or earlier) on the wall, showing how long his family has been here. I love that kind of history. The windows appear to be the original hand made glass, The house does not have a single square wall or door, but as anyone that knows, knows this is true through all very old houses. You can really feel the history. A very shaded property, great for when you want to relax on the deck. Updated and Rustic at the same time. It screams old beach cottage you remember as a kid. I had zero complaints. Very clean and well presented. The Central air kept the house extremely comfortable. I will definitely rent it again when I go back. I just wish I could have talked to the owner more about his familys history there.

noise police
Nice location near the beach and fantastic deck, but house is quite old and bedrooms are tiny. One thing you need to know about renting this place is that they have a noise detecting device in the house - which is prone to false alarms. I got a text notification twice that we were making too much noise, in spite of the fact that we weren't making any noise at all. I called the management company phone, but got no explanation or apology. On top of that, WE had to listen all week to the noise of a construction crew building a new house on the beach just down the road , including a VERY loud pile driver that was used to drive huge foundation posts into the sand. No apology for that either.

Rustic charm near beach
We are enjoyed our stay at this rustic old beach cottage, just a few blocks from the beach. Really enjoyed the outside deck! And the beds were very comfortable. It would’ve been nice to have beach towels and chairs, and screens in the windows so we could sleep with the windows open at night. The check in process was really easy. Overall a lovely stay!

Nice place to stay on a good beach
This place worked out really well for 4 adults and 2 children. Short 1-2 minute walk to the beach. The downstairs shower and bathroom were very handy to help prevent getting sand throughout the house. Wish they had beach towels.

Lovely little home, 5 minute (maybe) walk to beach, 1 mile walk to Center Street bars and restaurants. Nice deck on rear of house (which is really the main access); screened porch on the front (I don't think we ever went in through the front. Comfortable and well-equipped.

We had a great week at Folly. This cottage is really a good one. Very good location close to the beach with a great little path to it. A little bit further to town but that was fine. The place, especially the deck is made for beach living. Love the outdoor shower-all I used! Highly recommend this place!

Step Back in Time
I absolutely loved this property!! I loved the beach cottage feel - I loved the board and batten - I loved the family photo gallery I loved the antiqueness of it... the original (or close to original) doors, floors (and the uneven-ness of them), porches, door handles, bead board ceilings!! I smelled the faint smell of coffee as mentioned in the history writeup!! We had an amazing stay (although short - only 3 nights) and will definitely be back again!

Lovely setting in Folly Beach
The deck makes this a fantastic place to stay with the view of the river. We loved the beach cottage feel with lots of outdoor space. It is just a short walk to the beach and you can hear the ocean from the front porch. Plenty of room to relax in different spaces inside and outside the house. The kitchen is well equipped for family dinners and the market up the street had everything we needed to cook great meals.

Great location and house!
We had a wonderful week on Folly. This house was just what we were looking for. It was close to the beach and had everything we needed. I loved the history of the house. There was plenty of room to be inside and outside. It was lovely to be able to see the marsh from the front porch too! The caretakers of the house were communicative but not overly so. We had a pretty bad storm while we were there and they checked in on us which was great. Check out instructions were very clear and didn’t require too much for us to do. We would definitely stay here again.

A visit with our daughter and grandchildren

Excellent Location
This is a charming Cottage on a beautiful lot . Most of the beds are comfortable other than the extreme “ Creakiness “ of the bed located in the bonus bedroom on the outside porch. There’s not much storage available for clothing ( we had 6 hangers total ). It’s reasonably spacious and the furniture is somewhat comfortable. Folly is a great beach community. We enjoyed our time there and appreciated being able to bring our dog with us .

family break at the beach
the best time ever! gorgeous home with lots of spots to chat or grab some quiet time. love the generations photos in the house and felt surrounded by love. there lots of steps to house where u park- but from door has fewer. it would be nice to do better landscaping in the yard and a grill would b nice. have a BIG sign in bathroom reminding users how to tuck in shower curtain otherwise water is everywhere in the main bath. please buy a steamer basket for cooking and adjust fridge door to close w slant of house. beware of squirrels above throwing acorns down on u. otherwise perfect!!

This was the perfect Folly Beach bungalow! It still has eccentric charm with modern updates!
I had the most wonderful time staying at this house on Folly! It had everything I needed for a perfect beach vacation (well I could have used bigger coffee mugs 😉😂)! Loved the secluded bedroom off the porch and the outdoor shower with the full bath down there too. The main back deck that had a view of the sound was great to hang out on with friends. I would happily stay in this house again and again!

Exceptional Folly Cottage
We loved our stay at this home. The owners have clearly put a ton of time and money in to updating this classic Folly cottage which boast an incredible amount of family history. We stayed here for two weeks following a stay on the beach-front with a larger group of family. This home was quiet, clean, excellent trees for shade, and an exceptional location to the beach and town. A couple thoughts for those considering booking this home: -We had never stayed on the opposite side of Ashley from the beach. I wasn't sure what to expect about the commute to the beach, but it was super easy. we would take our golf cart to the 8th street entrance every day - took about 30 seconds. So close, we felt a little lazy not walking. -The main entrance to the home, is really on E. Cooper, which is a good thing. E. Ashley can be busy sometimes, but E. Cooper is always dead (in terms of traffic) - great for walking dogs, kids riding bikes, etc. -The house is super comfortable. Quiet, and GREAT AC...we are a family that runs hot, and we had some very hot/humid days, and put those units to work -Probably the one thing I'd point out, is that one of the three bedrooms is a (long time ago) converted portion of the front porch. The room is comfortable, has its own toilet, and has a great AC and fan, but technically it is outside of the main doors and the deadbolts to the home. If you are a bunch of adults, young adults, or college kids, this wouldn't be an issue, but if you are a family that needs two bedrooms for kids, I could see them or you having a little bit of anxiety sleeping in this room. Kitchen and living area are on the small side - but huge decks make give you plenty of room to expand. We would highly recommend this place to others and would book it again.

No frills, but met our needs.
The house was just as advertised. It was a cute little cottage with no frills, bells or whistles. It served our purpose well. The only suggestion I would make is for the owner to provide more towels and wash cloths. One per guest just wasn't enough. I had to buy extras to avoid doing several loads of laundry during our stay.
