  • Glass Beach is a beach in MacKerricher State Park near Fort Bragg, California, that is abundant in sea glass created from years of dumping garbage into an area of coastline near the northern part of the town. Once upon a time the sand was coated in brightly colored bits of sea glass, and social media is full of photos that make it look as if the sand still looks that way, but that isn't the case. Over the years the public has raided the beach of much of its glass. Now at first look, some might say it looks like any other ordinary beach. Yes you can still find glass here, but you have to look for it, and most of colored glass is long gone. It all makes for a fun little treasure hunt however! The Lodge is in the middle of all the activities we did… 8 miles from Mendocino Headlands trail and 8 mins away from Glass beach.. it has restaurant and close convenient stress as well..

The first time we stayed at Harbor Lite Lodge it was lovely and wonderful. This stay was anything but that. Upon checkout we let the lady know that the room was infested with ants. Apparently, they were aware of the ants and blamed it on the rain. If they were aware of the infestation why is nothing being done? All we got was a half hearted "sorry about that". It felt very oh well it is what it is. I also find it hard to believe the rain was to blame because the last time we stayed it was raining more and we had no ants. We will never stay here again due to the uncaring staff and condition of the room.

The view is superb. Very large room, great fireplace, comfortable beds. The bathroom could use an update but clean and spacious. My only disappointment was no pastry at the coffee bar for breakfast.

The room & staff was good. Only complaint was the first night, there was a storm with high winds. For two to three hours the wind howled & screeched through the front door, felt like we were in a horror movie! Didn't get to sleep until 3:30 in the morning. I did let the office know. The second night was a lot more pleasant.
