We paid extra for a room with an ocean view. It was lovely but the chairs provided on our deck were cheap, flimsy and plastic. The property also claims to be “recently renovated” but everything felt very dated. There was also an obvious patch on the ceiling of our room that was not blended with the ceiling texture. Staff was pleasant.

We had the lower king unit. The unit we had was clean. Daily cleaning service is not offered for our short 3 night stay. The balcony offered a great view of the ocean and the sunset in the evening. With binoculars, you can see whales blowing water from their blowholes. Although I’m not a fan of brown carpets. The bathroom was dark with lighting a stark bluish white color. The towel rack with towels was way across the room from the shower so it was a reach. There were no towel bars or hook next to the shower/tub to hook your bath towel or place your clothes. No handicap bar if that is what you need. The bathroom sink is outside of bathroom, in same room as the bed. The water was literally a trickle and took at least 30 seconds to wash all the soap off from my face. The TV was nice and big (55”?) but for some reason, it kept turning off by itself and if you wait about 2-5 minutes, it’ll turn itself back on. Aside from this, we did enjoy our stay in Fort Bragg and Mendocino area.

Loved it here. Easy to find & park. Very short jaunt straight back to the ocean edge and a beautiful view, or down a bit to the left and then onto the beach. The room was huge and very nice, very clean. The bed sheets were amazing, so soft. The only thing awkward was that there was a sign about conserving water, and the sink had VERY little water running to wash hands or brush teeth. Luckily the shower was great & not like that.

Be aware, the place as a whole does not offer air conditioning. They offer a plug in fan if you need some sort of air besides opening the window. The room we stayed in had ants in the room so any food we brought into the room had to be stored in the microwave or ice chest. Some rooms dont have a balcony or closet.

Great views of the coastline. On a walking/bike path, very close to the Pudding Creek Trestle Bridge. Beautiful sunsets. A quick drive into town for food and shopping.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Surf and Sand Lodge! From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, welcoming, and eager to help with anything we needed. My room was clean, comfortable, and had a beautiful view that truly lived up to the name. Waking up to the ocean each morning was a highlight of our trip. The location was perfect—close enough to explore the area, yet peaceful enough to feel like a true getaway. Overall, Surf and Sand Lodge exceeded our expectations. We’d gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Property is well maintained, close to the beach and next to a walking/biking path. The path is asphalt and follows the beach, going about 5 miles to the north and 5 miles to the south.
