Nice older home with all the basic needs. Quiet neighbors and the street doesn’t get a ton of traffic.

The house was great! The house had everything we needed. When we arrived, the house was clean and ready to receive us. The house is a six-minute walk from the beach. Everything is close by so you don't have to drive much. There are many excellent restaurants nearby. My family and I enjoyed our vacation.

Great Location

We chose this house due to its location and access to two bathrooms, which were both great! The furniture in the main area is weathered, but functional. We loved the fenced front and back yards for our dog. The neighborhood is nice and feels safe. This is an older home, but kept up nicely. The kitchen had most of the items needed to cook and grill. The coffee maker is a drip one, so make sure to bring grounds, it was nice to find filters and sugar were provided. If the living/dining room furniture and back bedroom bed frame were upgraded, this house would be a 5.

Beautiful older home

We enjoyed staying in this house. There was enough room for nine of us towels were provided very close walk to the beach. There were a little issues, faulty door knobs mosquitoes but other than that it was roomy. It was very clean. I would stay in this the same exact house again.

Perfect

Great house that’s well appointed. Just a block from the Seawall and tons of restaurants it perfect for a weekend of fun. The front and backyard are great my little dog had a great time since both yards are fenced in.

Castaway vacation

The home is lovely. Plenty of room for 8 people - 2 adullts, 2 teen boys, and 4 kiddos 5-8. The only complaint is there are no.instructions on how to contact manager/host with a problem. But, overall we had a great time, felt safe letting little ones play in back yard, and It was an easy walk to restaurants, beach and entertainment-- just minutes away walking. There was no need to take car and worry about parking.

The property was not as nice as the pictures. The coffee maker was broken, the Front porch chair was broken, the washer didn't work and rolled-up rugs on the floor were tripping hazards.

Pros and Cons

We really loved the location of the beach house. It was two blocks away from the seawall and really closed to Pleasure Isle. There were some inconveniences, but that is to be expected at a place where so many people stay. There were some issues with the furnishings. Carly/rug that was curled up and was easy to trip over it. There was a broken chair on front porch, the coffee pot did not work (I had to go by one, which I took home with me the worst inconvenience was the washer did not work, so we weren’t able to wash any clothes, other than than these, it was okay. Hopefully we can find a better one next year,

Terrible experience - kitchen flooded

Started with Laundry washer not working. When we complained a guy came and said he cannot he cannot fix it, he’s just a regular maintenance guy but will send a technician. The technician never came. Then dishwasher in the kitchen flooded with water all over the place. Almost all towels went in the drying the kitchen floor. When we called they said it’s an emergency as is it is flooding issue and someone should be there. No one came. The garbage disposal button got stuck with water in the sink filled. We complained. No one came. All our experience was calling, complaining, sending text messages and waiting for someone to arrive. I wish I could post some pictures which we took.

Don’t let the pictures and cute exterior fool you…

The place was cute…. But THAT is ALL it has! There is so much broken and falling apart furniture in here that it should be shut down as a safety hazard until EVERYTHING inside is replaced! The bed in the second bedroom literally COLLAPSED under my daughter when she laid down in it the first night we were there… we found it to have been repaired MULTIPLE times and even being held together BY COAT HANGERS! The clothes washer is broken and with mold all inside it. There are electric plugs hanging from the wall. Cabinets hang open with no way to keep them closed exposing chemicals, tools and other hazards to kids and animals. The floor hasn’t been cleaned more than sweeping in ages… walked through it in my white socks and they were BLACK after 30 minutes!! The beds have the most uncomfortable mattresses on them as well, but that is something I face most anywhere, so THAT can slide. Only ONE of the THREE T.V.s worked in the house with us moving it to the living room and putting it in front of non-working main T.V..

Very convenient

This house is cute, roomy, and very close to the beach. There were several small issues that would have been nice to know about ahead of time. The first issue we had was getting the front door to lock from the outside. My advice is to test it as soon as you check in. We were delayed to dinner our first night 30 minutes trying to get someone to tell us how to get the door locked. (Just pushing the button on the outside was not working.). The coffee pot does not work at all, so bring instant, or your own coffee pot. The ice maker is not operational. There are 2 ice trays, so plan on purchasing ice, as well. There were only a couple of washcloths, so you will need to bring your own if you need more than 4 washcloths for your stay. (None of these issues would have changed my mind in staying here, but it would have been good information to know up front so I could have prepared for them.) There are plenty of beds and they are very comfortable. There are puzzles and games at the house to enjoy during the evenings. The backyard is quite large with 2 large tables and a propane grill (just bring all utensils yourself for grilling).

Great location!

Great location, close to the beach and yummy restaurants. Backyard was great for the dog! The kids loved the swing out back too. It was a little quirky and old, some of the walls were dirty, but it was great for our family needs.

Galveston 2022

The house was great very comfortable. Only issue was the door knobs some were loose and at times they were hard to open. We did find some ants in the bathroom and kitchen by the microwave. But the home was very well kept and would definitely stay again if available next year if we decided to spend time at the beach.

Castaway Cottage Galveston

Great location, nice kitchen, comfortable beds. Some dining room chairs can’t be used because they are falling apart and the dining room rug is a trip hazard. No instructions on how to work internet TV and very limited channels. Kudos to David who spent two hours getting the TV to work. Great guy. Never able to use TV again.

Great location, comfortable house

We booked this property for two families to share. The location and layout were perfect, with plenty of space for two families. Our kids shared the bunk room which sleeps four. There were a number of lightbulbs out in the living areas and a few things that needed some maintenance. After emails through the Vacasa app went unanswered we called the property manager and someone arrived within an hour to replace bulbs , fix a broken door handle and replace a missing remote. This quick response as a result of a phone call was much appreciated. We did feel that these were all things that housekeeping should be reporting back after each renter leaves however. The house was clean and well equipped, and just a five minute walk from the beach. We will rent this accommodation again for sure.

Simple but fantastic

House was comfortable and great location for what we needed it for. Xbob in living room did not work and the middle bedroom door knob was broken so we left the door open. We had nine guests, 5 adults and 4 children. We had plenty of room in this home.
