“Blinds in room weren’t all hanging but reception team were fab!”

“The staff were excellent and extremely accommodating. On the other hand- the hotel itself is tired, old, outdated and dirty. To make matters worse, there was a huge horse race (which I wasn’t aware of) and guests there were out of control. As I was walking into the lobby with my family to return to our room, a large fist fight breaks out in the lobby where a bloodied combatant is thrown out the front door. My kids thought it was cool, but I’m too old for that nonsense. My advice is before you……

“Location is just right. Staff are nice and helpful. Room decoration is quite old and small. Bath with no shower head and only the one attached to the wall.”

“Whatever this place is, it’s not a hotel in the usual sense of the word. There are no staff. Guests are simply left to enter and fend for themselves. The building is tired. Our shower was blocked with hair and wouldn't drain. I had to remove the hair myself. Paper thin walls meant that not only did we hear every movement and conversation from above, the snoring of the gentleman upstairs could be clearly heard at 4 in the morning, even with earplugs in. In a two week trip around Scotland……

“This is not a hotel room. It's more like a dorm and when we got there we were told that is what it was designed to be. I really loved the shared kitchen but the rooms were tiny and the beds were so hard and the linens so scratchy that there was no way to get a good nights sleep! For a college student with their own linens and a nice bed topper this would work, but they charged hotel prices for a dorm. Lots of money was spent on amenities so those are nice and location is perfect right by train……

“Too far out from center with absolutely nothing around. The room was muggy and super loud due to room location to building entrance. You heard people, taxis, buses, workers until 3am, then again at 6am.”

“15 minute walk from the coach station. Friendly welcome from the staff. The apartment was quite small but clean. Ideal for a couple of nights stay but maybe not longer as a couple. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk provided and can ask for more at reception. Ideal breakfast place a couple of minutes walk away called frends next to the Travelodge. Would definitely stay again”
