Immaculate Boathouse in Wine Country
Absolutely loved our stay at the Boathouse. The location in wine country is perfect- you can easily walk to several wineries, and the home itself was well stocked with all the supplies you need. I also need to comment on the decor- well styled and so adorable- everything is so well pulled together and quaint. We used the outdoor tub every night and enjoyed the stars too. Totally recommend.

Rustic country retreat
The Boathouse is a special dream for a creative couple. It is gorgeous and so authentically French in style you could be in Bordeaux somewhere. The huge outdoor bath while you watch the stars is a special experience. Warm and friendly communication from the hosts. A short drive to Arrowtown. Highly recommended.

Wow! Just Wow!
You will love everything about this beautiful property! The photos don't do it justice! The location and view is beautiful and I imagine would be at any time of the year! Every comfort has been thought of in this spotless, cosy, comfortable charming cottage! Shelley the owner has a fantastic eye for interior design! I'd get her to style my own home if I could! You are literally in walking distance of lovely wineries and it's a central location to visit all local attractions. Owners are on site, they are lovely charming people but are invisible unless you need them. Don't think about this place, just book it, you won't be disappointed. We hope to return in ski season! Thank you!

Peaceful and Comfortable
This is a charming accomodation both inside and out. We enjoyed the view and outside space as much as the inside, french country rooms. Clean, spacious and well appointed, we would return.

An amazingly pretty corner of Gibbston Valley!
A hidden gem! Quite a dainty cottage! The outdoor bath is heavenly! Well looked after section is fenced so our dog could run free on the property and explore. 🐶There also is a vege patch and many fruit trees there. I enjoyed few sweet pea snaps 😋 and fresh cous lettuce. There’s an outdoor dining area where we enjoyed our meals. We surely will go back.

Just the best!
The Boathouse is special. We loved everything about our stay there. It is warm and welcoming in a “quirky” way. Shelley and Neil are excellent hosts and made us feel most welcome. The location is stunning and the outdoor bath was the icing on the cake. If we’re ever back in New Zealand, we would love to return.

Wonderful Stay at the Boathouse!
We had a relaxing stay at the Boathouse and enjoyed meeting our hosts Shelley and Neil. They are super nice people and gave us good recommendations. The house is super clean, well-stocked, private and very comfortable. The woodstove warmed the chilly mornings. The outdoor tub is super cool though we didn't use it. It was a great location for us for wine tasting and sight seeing. Honestly, the Boathouse is the most charming place we've ever had the pleasure of visiting and being there felt like a warm hug! Thank you Shelley and Neil!

Little piece of paradise.
The boathouse visit was one of the most beautiful stays we could have hoped for. Gorgeous rustic french style vibes. The location is idyllic and surrounded by stunning vistas and countryside. Amazing and highly recommend, extremely dog friendly 🥰
Faultless. Absolutely beautiful, peaceful, tranquil but oh so close to excellent wineries and food. Our dog just loved the freedom of being able to wander around in the fully fenced large section, all the while chasing the bunnies. Communication with owners was fluid and easy. So easy to have stayed longer and we will definitely return.

Paradise in the Gibbston valley
We absolutely loved our stay in this gorgeous valley in central Otago. The Boathouse is an absolute delight - beautifully decorated, warm and comfortable, with everything you might need. The property is perfect for dogs, and Shelley, Neil and Dudley are lovely hosts - very warm and welcoming, and full of suggestions for local walks and bike rides . We will definitely be back for another stay!

Exquisite in every way
Every detail conceivable and full luxury right down to the linen sheets; the spontaneous idea to have a soak in the outdoor bath, under the stars and moonlit at 4am was unforgettable, Dudley the dog adorable beyond belief, the sound of the river rapids rushing in the distance - and totally authentic French style; we’ve all been to France with two of us having lived and worked there - if you can’t get to France come and luxuriate at the BoatShed - you will absolutely and utterly be back in the South of France.... thank you so much from all of us.

Picture-perfect French-style cottage in Gibbston
We had an amazing time staying in Shelley and Neil’s property. Communication and check in was easy. Everything had been thought of and we appreciated the excellent quality furnishings as well as the outdoor area to soak up the sun and views. Our dogs loved the fully fenced land and all the nearby walks. The outdoor bath is a must if you stay here. We would love to visit again!

Central Otago - New Zealand. Have you been there, well you're missing out. Pick your time of year, it's not going to disappoint. Simply stunning at every turn. And in our backyard, we choose to stay as they say in French 'a bateau de ville pluche' - The Boathouse, Gibbston Valley, Queenstown, New Zealand. Central Otago's vineyards and wineries nestled painterly by the Kawarau Gorge. The Boathouse is at peace amongst stunning scenes literally at your door step. And with stillness, pitter-patter of snow and Pot Belly fire crackling, the simple things in life mean the most but only if you're lucky.

We had such a lovely stay and wish we could've stayed longer. Beautifully decorated cottage and super lovely people to deal with. Our dog had a ball running around the property with the two dogs looking for rabbits while we enjoyed kicking back to the heat of the superb fire.

We spent two nights here but would love to stay longer. The boathouse is as lovely as you hope. It is stylish and luxurious. The hosts are so helpful too. The position of the house is great for visiting, Queenstown, Arrowtown and the wine region. Really, I can’t fault the place!

Great stay! Great location! So chic yet so simple! Staying in Gibbston was the best decision ever. Easy drive to the slopes, vineyards all around and for us avoiding queenstown all together was a choice. The place is so homely it was hard to leave. Warm, clean, functional and so comfortable. We did manage to catch up with our hosts who were just as charming as the place. Thank you Shelley and Neil. Hoping that our paths will cross again one day in the south of France maybe.

The boathouse was beautifully furnished, the location inspirational and the hosts wonderful.
We felt right at home stepping into the Boathouse. Our hosts were very welcoming and shared some great information and stories. Enjoyed our morning visits from the dogs Freda and Dudley it ensured we didn’t miss our own dogs. Our accommodation had everything we needed and more, with beautiful furnishings and amenities Thanks for a memorable stay, we will be back.

Fabulous mid winter escape
A perfect place for a mid winter escape, the cottage is beautifully appointed, very comfortable beds, toasty warm inside with the wood burner going. Very accommodating hosts. Make sure you explore the river walk nearby as some beautiful views. Many thanks for a fabulous stay!

This piece of heaven was so unexpected - beautifully decorated, French linen, everything you need for a luxury country stay. It’s 20 mins from the airport, but feels like a world away. Highly recommended.

Perfect for us, close to Arrowtown, easy drive to Cromwell or Queenstown. Cottage is beautifully furnished in French country style, equipped with everything we needed including the delightful extra of a couple of well behaved dogs.
