  • Sunset from Grand Isle State Park, near the southern tip of Louisiana. We didn't know you could drive 1.5 hours south of New Orleans, but you can to reach this beautiful state park. Grand Isle is mostly a summer community but it was sunny and warm and nearly empty for us in early March. The RV park was a great place to stay -- one of our favorites, right next to the beach and with nature paths nearby. We walked on the beach by day, and grilled burgers and sat by the campfire at night. Wonderful Stay

The only complaint I have is the supplies. We stayed 2 days and had to go buy trash bags, toilet paper, etc. Considering the amount charged per night I would have expected more than 1 roll of toilet paper and 1 trash bag for a 2 night stay. The description also does not explain that the double bunk beds are in a separate "mother in law" style room, so if you have young kids know that an adult will have to sleep in the bunk beds room with the young kids. Other than those small issues, this place was very clean with beautiful views, and short commute to anywhere you want to go. The beach is a very short walk. The beach is powder sand and there were no areas where you even needed sandals to protect your feet. We also had a cool experience where the dolphins swam up to the beach and played around with us swimmers for about an hour! Great stay and great place to relax. I would definitely return.
