We loved the retro vibe and clean space. Self-check-in and communication with the hosts were simple and friendly. We were in town for a wedding, so we fought over the single small mirror getting ready, but overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
If youre not a people person this place is perfect. Never had to talk to anyone. Lol! It was very nice and clean and peaceful. Had a cool vibe to it, being a modernized old school motel. Id definitely stay again.
Staff was very helpful & friendly. I had My Mom 89 years old you just walked right into the room very clean and it had a beautiful back yard with some paths. Picnic tables hot tub & sauna . It was very easy for her to get around with her walker. We will be back. Also dog friendly. I wish i would've taken pictures.
From the outside, looked like an old roadside motel. However, inside, the space was very nicely appointed, updated, and very clean. Bed was super comfortable. A little cramped for two people, but efficient use of space. Had trouble getting the internet. Not many food choices in the area on a Monday night. But really nice and quiet at night.
This property is pet friendly with a small reasonable fee. Very clean. Super comfortable bed and pillows. Great outdoor area out back for families to enjoy or for your pet to run around. Easy to access and check in. We had an issue with the heat and wifi upon check in. Be aware that there is no one onsite to help you if something comes up with the room. They were very responsive over the phone to our issues and compensated us for what they couldn’t resolve that evening. We were staying as an overnight stop on a road trip and this worked out well. Close enough to Grayling to order takeout.
We had a small issue with check-in—there’s no on-site staff, so everything is done online, and you need to text them a day in advance for instructions. Just something to keep in mind before arriving. That said, the technician who helped us was great and super friendly. The room was beautiful, newly renovated, and had all the amenities we needed. The property also has a lovely backyard with tennis courts and a barbecue area, which made our stay even more enjoyable!
Been coming here for years and the renovations are spectacular. The rooms are awesome, they did a great job. It is a small road side motel but the new sauna and hot tub are fantastic. There are grills and a big canopy with picnic tables. The pickleball/basketball courts are a nice touch. The three bonfire pits are great, especially the large community one. The rooms are small, but very nicely appointed. Beds are comfy. They are working out a few minor bugs with the place but communication with staff is swift and quick with any issues resolved in very little time. Huge 3 acre property off the beaten path. We love the Windmoor Lodge and it was our third time this summer and we will return for a fall trip in a couple of weeks. Just a nice little place to use as a base to go and explore the beautiful area and fun things to do all around you! After a day at Higgins Lake and canoeing the AuSable it was awesome to grill up some dinner, hit the hot tub and grab a drink around the big bonfire with some music! A perfect night to end a perfect day! Great job Windmoor! We shall return!
The room we stayed in was updated and had a retro feel to it. Loved it

No working internet. Overbearing febreeze plug in.smell was overpowering and made it hard to breathe. Luke warm shower. Previous guest had not signed out on tv so we couldn’t load our account. The bedside lamp had a wire with no plug attached.
Other than that the remodel was clean and well done.
The room and property were kept up very nicely. Very comfortable and clean room. However the shower specifically in the corners in the grout had black mold. So I would address that. I know it’s common with showers but it’s definitely noticeable and something to address. But I would 10/10 stay here again other than that.
I liked that it was an older motel that had been completely renovated in a very tasteful way. The room smelled fresh and clean! The wallpaper was unique and also tasteful. There was one small glitch - the night had turned quite cool. My husband gets chilled very quickly, and we couldn’t get the room heat to come on. The bathroom heater did, tho, and probably helped after a time. The comforters on the bed helped quite a bit. I’d stay there again, tho, in a minute. We were offered the use of the fire pit, sauna, pickleball court ( I think). I’m happy to help put Windsor Motel on the map!
