About this property
Sunflower Cabin - Peaceful Stay w/ Fire Pits & Kayaks
Tucked away in nature, Sunflower Cabin offers a peaceful escape from the busy world. Surrounded by trees and set on 150 beautiful acres, it’s a place to slow down, breathe deep, and enjoy the outdoors.
This cabin is located in a shared space on the property near two other cabins, Stone Ranch pavilion and a large shared fire pit—perfect for relaxing evenings and gathering under the stars. While you may see other guests nearby, each cabin still offers its own comfortable space to unwind.
You’ll have access to the full property to explore, including ponds, a nearby creek, and plenty of room to hike, bike, fish, or simply take it all in. The ponds and creek are just a short walk away, offering a quiet place to enjoy the water and surroundings.
Kayaks are available for exploring the ponds or floating along the creek, and you’ll likely meet some of the friendly animals that call the property home—goats, mini cows, a potbelly pig, chickens, cats, and a very friendly dog.
Inside, each cabin is set up for simple comfort, with linens, towels, pillows, blankets, a mini fridge, microwave, pots and pans, coffee pot, dishes, cups, and silverware provided.
Nights are especially peaceful out here, with very little light pollution—perfect for enjoying the fire and a sky full of stars.
A few quick notes: fishing is catch-and-release, the waterfall depends on rainfall, a waiver is required at the start of your stay, and no smoking inside the cabins.
This is a country setting, so you may experience bugs, wildlife, or changing weather - it's all part of the charm out here!

We are repeating guys and enjoy ourselves every time we've stayed. It is a great escape from the hustle of the city while having several things to do and explore.
We loved the time we spent here! Even with storms and power outages, we truly enjoyed our peaceful weekend getaway at Stone Ranch! Fishing was excellent, location was peaceful, and Denali (the lab)was the best host! Scott and Carrie made sure we were safe and informed throught our trip. Cannot wait to stay here again, and bring our adult children and friends!
This is my second time staying here. The first was a mother/daughter trip seven years ago. Most recently, an anniversary trip with my partner. Both times, the visit was excellent. The property is exactly as advertised and the host is great (quick communication, thorough information, nice amenities). Both times I’ve stayed, it has stormed overnight, and we had a great experience both times. We kayaked (taking dogs in the kayaks both times!), explored the property, and relaxed. It was awesome to see how much the property has grown since my first visit and I loved seeing other people in the other cabins. We also really loved how friendly the goats, pig, cats, and dog were! Wish we had brought some veggies and treats for all of the animals. Highly recommend this location for a nice getaway in the country & taking a break from the business of life, while still having the comforts of a/c and a nice bed.
The property description is pretty accurate in that it is rustic. Rustic has a lot of definitions, but Sunflower cabin (and the two adjacent cabins) are very rustic. Very minimal in furnishings and such. It is very quiet and Denali (dog) and the cats pretty much make themselves at home on your porch. The small town of Gridley is nearby, but there is very little there in terms of groceries, etc so plan ahead and bring what you need. Closest town of any size is Emporia (40 miles). There is little to no cell reception and wifi is not what you expect. If you want to unplug this is the place. Pretty relaxing.

Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Cute and Rustic
The listing says sleeps 4 but there is only one bed. So for three adults one of us slept on the leather couch. It could have been cleaner with better kitchen essentials. Suggest a better kitchen sink with better drainage and perhaps a place to bring garbage too.
