This was the nicest hotel I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. It was beautiful and so nicely kept. The staff was amazing. The Blue Lagoon at The Retreat was very private and quiet. Truly amazing trip. The Retreat was $$$, but worth every penny.

We were told all the food/wine/coffee/drinks on the fridge and cabinet were complimentary and free but we were charged for the 2 beers we took from the same fridge where all the drinks are kept. Its a lie! Inaccurate information considering how incredibly expensive to stay in this particular hotel. It is not worth to stay for four nights as we spent most of our days outdoor.

Our so-called suite was tiny with a bathtub in the room. Our (reconfirmed!) dinner reservation was lost, though they honored it after I threw a fit. Restaurant was crowded with bused-in tour groups. Bed was very soft. Spa treatments were interesting but overall a disappointment.

Top 1% in the world - stay of a life time
The Retreat is among the top 1% travel experiences in our life. All the decadent features of a 5 star hotel and spa with a ton of extras. While it comes at a price, it can be argued that the setting, private access to the luxurious spa and Blue Lagoon paired with outstanding gourmet make it worth the splurge.

Beautiful Facility but Service severely lacked
The place itself is amazing and must be experienced. Also on one night we got to see the Northern Lights which put the experience one notch up. However the service is severely lacking, always had to ask for our waiter and then keep asking for service. This was at Breakfast, Spa restaurant and also Lava restaurant, it was so bad feeling like you are being ignored constantly , because others would sit around us and immediately got helped, this honestly almost ruined the trip for us.

Incredible but massively over priced
There’s no doubt that this is an amazing experience and unique hotel but it’s impossible to justify the price for what you get. The spa is great but experienced better at a third of the price. The treatments are not worth the money. The Lava restaurant is out of place, it feels cheaper than the rest of the hotel and the food and wine does also, but it’s very expensive. The breakfast is amazing, so are the rooms from which we saw the northern lights. The staff and service are also first class. £400 per night should really be the maximum you could charge for this hotel but it is ideal if you want something exclusive that priced out the average person

Stunning hotel- beautiful inside and out, super clean, lovely luxurious and modern feel. Amazing views, really special. We saw the Northern lights too! The hotel spa was outstanding. Only downside was the restaurant....compared to similar restaurants in the UK the food was very average, especially the vegetarian courses. The presentation was beautiful, but the flavours were sadly lacking. If we go again I’d want to eat in the less formal brasserie restaurant for sure.
