Lovely place but poor communication and numerous fees

The place itself is in a gorgeous spot in Grindelwald. Even though it’s small and has short ceilings, it had most of what we needed. However, trying to contact the host and get details of check in and fees was impossible as this listing is mediated through another European company. I just ended up having to hike up to the site (which is quite a hike without taking a train from the city center) and eventually the host arrived around 4:30. Also, we were charged several fees by both the company and the host on-site which virtually doubled the price for one night. Careful what it says in your contract as you will likely be charged more by the host when you arrive — linens, towels, “general” fees, and a tax that is more than what is said in the contract. Other than that, the host is very nice and the play did serve its purpose for our stay in magical Grindelwald.
