A Wonderful Escape

A wonderful escape, especially after 5 activity filled days and nights in a hot and crowded Rome. The property is beautiful, with lovely gardens, perfect sunsets and, yes, we had donkeys, sheep and deer for neighbors. The house is spacious and comfortable, uniquely furnished with works by Orvieto Craftsmen and murals featuring the gardens and the donkeys. We were 11, ranging in age from 4 to 78 and took full advantage of the amazing pool complex, including hot tub, sauna and misting showers. Umbria is fascinating with its ancient hill towns and there is plenty to do for those who want to explore, but we treasured our time at the villa and the chance to relax in such a magical place. On two nights, we did take advantage of the cooking service and had delicious meals. Highly recommended. The owners, Franco and Aukse, who created Villa della Favole were gracious, responsive to every question and wanted us to enjoy the place they had put so much care into making.

This house exceeded our expectations. We had a fantastic time staying there and exploring it. It was very centrally located for day trips and we were available to explore the Umbria region which was also wonderful and better than we expected. One suggestion I would make is that directions for access to the internet and how to work the air conditioning could be included in a welcome booklet. Thanks Richard

Villa de rêve

Nous avons passé 2 semaines en août à la Colle dell Asinello. La villa est magnifique et décorée avec soin. La vue et l’espace aquatique (piscine, jacuzzi, hammam, douche aromatique) sont exceptionnels. La propriété est en pleine nature et entourée d’animaux. Aukse et Franco sont accueillants et disponibles tout au long du séjour. Un grand merci à eux pour leur gentillesse.

Un endroit magique et unique

Voici un petit coin de paradis perdu au fin fond d'une Italie à découvrir...Nous avons avec ma femme et nos trois enfants passé une semaine unique dans un endroit unique, une maison hors norme où l'on sent dans toutes les pièces le travail passionné des hôtes qui nous ont recu : Franco et Aukse. La maison est très belle, et chose assez rare, l'esthétique n'est pas aux détriment de l'aspect pratique : elle est très bien équipée. Rien à dire depuis notre arrivée jusqu'au départ: un accueil chaleureux, des prestations uniques, le calme et la beauté du site. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié le jacuzzi le soir à contempler le coucher de soleil à travers les oliviers. La maison est également à moins d'une 1h30 en voiture d'un grand nombre de centres d'intérêt : Rome, Ovietto, le lac Bolsena et bien d'autres encore. A little bit of Italian heaven

We stayed as a party of 10 adults and two toddlers in mid-June. From the first day to the last everything was wonderful. The owners are really friendly and keen to help wherever they can. The villa is beautiful just as you see in the pictures. We had the room at the top of the house with the hot tub and amazing views over the Umbrian countryside. The pools were just right and great that they were shielded from direct sun. We used the tropical shower and steam room in the evenings. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need even some Italian coffee. The terrace for eating on at the back was lovely at night with candles and fairy lights adding to the atmosphere. The garden with all the different seating areas was beautifully arranged with lots of different seating areas for a large group to spread out. The owners told us that the nearby town of Guardea would sell everything we could need. This was so true. The staff in the supermarket were extremely helpful even grating cheese and helping us to choose ingredients. We got a few scratches on our hire car so tried the hardware store in Guardea, despite a lack of Italian on our part the lady was so helpful and sold us just the right polish to remove the scratches. She even rang her son for advice. The two things that were my holiday highlights were; Seeing fireflies for the first time in my life and the beautiful donkeys. The donkeys were so affectionate and gentle. We would feed them morning and evening. Just call out and they come trotting across the field towards you. My son has left a much more in-depth review on Tripadvisor. We all loved every moment of the holiday.

Che dire ho festeggiato i miei 30 qui, tutto perfetto. Eravamo un gruppo di 20 persone,La villa è ancora più bella dal vivo rispetto che le foto, i proprietari gentilissimi e scrupolosi in tutto. Dotata di qualsiasi tipo di comfort, materiali utilizzati di qualità, ogni camera ha un proprio bagno realizzato davvero in maniera unica. Tantissima cura nei dettagli. ZONA PISCINA E RELAX DAVVERO UNICA. La vista mozzafiato in tutti gli orari del giorno, il luogo è fantastico. Ho usufruito anche del servizio delle cuoche, davvero eccellenti. Un sogno ad occhi aperti

Ho soggiornato al colle dell'asinello per natale con tutta la mia famiglia. È stata un esperienza a dir poco sensazionale. La casa è rifinita in ogni dettaglio, estremamente pulita e confortevole. Nonostante fossimo lontani da casa è stato possibile sentire comunque la magia del natale grazie a Franco e Aukse che hanno provveduto ad arredare e addobbare la casa in maniera impeccabile. Pensavo fosse impossibile dirlo dopo aver visto l'annuncio, ma la struttura è ancora più bella di quanto possa rendere in foto. Il centro benessere dentro casa è la ciliegina sulla torta: Un paradiso a portata di mano, accessibile ogni qual volta se ne abbia voglia, che ha reso il nostro soggiorno indimenticabile. Torneremo sicuramente in estate per godere a pieno anche di un magnifico giardino e un panorama mozzafiato.

An Amazing Not To Be Missed Property--You Must Go...A Wonderful Memory for Your Whole Family

Our family has been doing trips for years and This IS THE BEST...we now have 4 grandkids (2-12) and 13 adults and EVERYONE loved it..something for all ages...plenty of wonderful rooms, an amazing one of a kind swimming pool that defies description it is so unique..All kids and adults were in it all the time, night and day !!!Easy to travel to other hill towns, Orvieto,fantastic food (of course, it's Italy!!), friendly people,and so relaxing...from this Unique hill top house you get the most beautiful and relaxing views of the farmland in the valley as well as far away hills...we ALL came away rejuvenated, refreshed, and wanting to go back...for travel--A1 is close so easy to travel to Florence or Rome, points in between and afar, and great train service...the ones were respectful and were there if we needed them and not when we didn't...Franco and Aukse designed and spent 7 loving years building this unique home and the interior design has something for the eye Everywhere you look...A GREAT VACATION AND RELAXING HOUSE!! YOU MUST GO !!!

The Perfect Villa for a Family Vacation

Our family of 11 people (3 generations, ages 3 to 64) stayed at this villa for 9 days in late March and early April 2018. We had big plans to do lots of sightseeing, but when we saw the villa, we knew that we would also spend lots of time at home. The property is beautiful---the villa, the garden and grounds, the views, the pool and spa area---they are all fantastic. Everything is well-designed, and all your needs are anticipated. The villa is beautifully crafted with lots of attention to detail; we had plenty of room for our family. The living areas are large and very comfortable. The dining room table is huge, and since it is four square tables, it is easily reconfigured. We used it square-shaped, which meant we could all be together during meals. We cooked and ate together every day. One day it was warm enough to eat on the terrace, outside, and we would recommend this too. Of special note, each of the bathrooms is exceptional, with tubs and basins of unique design. And in addition to the bathrooms in each bedroom, there are three other bathrooms elsewhere in the house (one in the pool area). The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes, glasses, small and large appliances, serving platters, bakeware, bowls, utensils, pots/pans, tablecloths. Everything was in good condition and worked as it should. The owners welcomed our young children and provided small-sized furniture for them—a nice touch. There is a TV and stereo, but we did not use them, so we cannot comment. The WIFI worked as expected. The garden and grounds are nicely planted and well maintained. It was early spring, so we missed the full splendor of the gardens. We sat outside most evenings to watch the sunset. One of the biggest attractions of this villa is the pool and spa area. For a family with kids, this was perfect. The pool and spa are lovely; the facilities are well maintained. There are plenty of towels, and there is a shower/ toilet conveniently in the pool enclosure area. The adults loved the sauna/steam room. Plus, anytime we had a question, we had a quick response. We were truly well taken care of. We recommend this villa very highly.

Consigliatissimo, Per il secondo anno consecutivo abbiamo deciso di trascorrere le festività natalizie presso “Colle Dell’Asinello” la splendida villa è un angolo di paradiso incantevole dove potersi rilassare in tutta riservatezza , un’oasi di pace accompagnati dalla gentilezza del Sig . The most wonderful Villa we visited in Italy

Hello, During September 2017, we visited the Villa with a group of 14. The Villa was large enough to accommodate all of us and still provide privet time. The location is isolate enough not far from Guardea centre (small lovely village). The property itself is very large with many things to do there – even when just to find spot to relax. We also recommend to use the cocking service inside the house (ask the owner). The heated swimming pool and spa area is amazing build in smart way that the weather don’t tamper when you would like to stay there. And last but not least Franco and Aukse will take care for your stay – thank you both for making our Vacation. Regards Eyal

Even more beautiful that it looks!

We stayed at this beautiful and charming property for 12 wonderful days. It is ideally located between Rome and Florence, close to Orvieto and surrounded by a number of interesting, smaller towns and villages. The most wonderful memories of our trip were created in this lovely home, in the magical pool and spa surrounded by the gorgeous grounds and views of Umbria! The owners were very generous with information and recommendations which we used and enjoyed. I would highly recommend this property!

Rimarrete piacevolmente sorpresi da questa villa di nuova costruzione,extra lusso , pulita e ricca di confort , in grado di soddisfare ogni tipo di necessità nella più totale privacy! I proprietari sono estremamente educati e disponibili . Ottimo anche per i bimbi , all'esterno la reggia è circondata da distese di terreno curatissimo , dove si trovano daini , pecore e asini al di là della recinzione . Il nostro Leonardo si è divertito tanto nel dare pezzetti di pane in particolare ad un asinello estremamente docile . La piscina immensa con acqua calda riscaldata a 30 gradi con vasca idromassggio annessa a 34 gradi , un vero paradiso in terra ! La spa offre doccia emozionale con aroma terapia e sauna ! Insomma il top. Tutto con accesso diretto dal gran salone , dotato anche di caminetto a legna . 5 camere da letto , curate nel dettaglio, con tanto di bagno e vasca annessa . Torneremo sicuramente molto presto , la consigliamo vivamente a tutti !!!!

Das perfekte, ländliche, luxuriöse Feriendomizil

Diese Luxusvilla steht in einem wunderschön angelegtem Gartenparadies. Alles sehr großzügig angelegt. Wir waren sehr zufrieden. Die Gastgeber Aukse und Franco waren sehr nett und bemüht alles zu tun, dass wir einen Traumurlaub hatten. Alles war liebevoll und sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet! Die Aussicht war wunderschön. Alles toll beleuchtet in der Nacht. Diese Traumvilla ist sehr zu empfehlen. Vor allem der große, geheizte Indoorpool war sensationell. Wir würden dort sofort wieder Ferien machen! Yvonne und Family

This villa is absolutely stunning, instantly relaxing, breath taking views and great owners.

We stayed here for a week in August 2016. The villa is absolutely stunning, so comfortable, spacious and beautiful. We instantly felt at home. The bedrooms are decorating with real style, the beds are incredibly comfortable and the fabulous air conditioning means that you remain at the perfect temperature. The kitchen and dinning area are really well equipped and you want for nothing. The lounge is so relaxing and complete with a sound system that you can plug your music player into and decide if you want your music to be heard in the lounge, garden or pool ....or indeed all three. The pool and spa area are wonderful. The steam room is brilliant along with the herbal shower and the pool and hot tub are beautiful and because they are inside there is never a moment that you can't use the pool. The doors around the pool open up so you get the impression of being outside even though technically you're not. Now onto the most amazing part of this villa .....the setting. The gardens are so well maintained it makes the perfect setting for al fresco dinning , and then there's the view.....and boy what a wonderful view! I just sat there for ages taking everything in, mountains, a distant volcano, lakes, gorgeous houses it is simply priceless. The nearest village Guardea is gorgeous and has everything you could possibly need, I enjoyed going around all the little food shops. The openers are always winderful so helpful and kind. As you can tell we loved this place, so much so that I will definitely be going back. The perfect setting for the perfect family holiday and a wonderful place to make new memories LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

All that one could wish for and more!

It is with great pleasure that I write a review for the lovely Franco and Aukse about their fabulous Villa of Fables! It has been our first family holiday and I can not fault it. We loved everything from the amazing covered pool and jacuzzi, to exploring the beautiful garden and talking to the donkey. The surrounding views are stunning and the layout of the villa is thoughtful and imaginative. Franco and Aukse were so helpful. On hand to answer any questions at any time. Next year I hope we can visit for two weeks. Thank you Villa of Fables for some wonderful memories!! X
