Any time we are in or near Guethary we stay here. It has been five years and the excellent standard has not changed. They continuously update where need be. This time it was during a heatwave and the continuously cooled rooms are the recipe for a great night’s sleep, not counting the superbly soft white cotton sheets. Coming back again, that’s for sure.

We only stayed one night. The room was spacious and the bed and furniture comfortable. The AC worked well also. The only item the room lacked was a mini fridge. The staff were accomodatinng in keeping some refrigerated medicine in the downstairs kitchen. All in all we liked the location as it was just a short walk to the restarants, beaches and train station. The bus stops are very close.

Gorgeous place

Just lovely people. Very helpful and kind. Arrived after long flight and room was comfy with good blackout blinds . Delicious coffee in reception. Would definitely stay again.

What an amazing find. The owner was so friendly and welcoming. Our room was spotless. Our dogs were welcomed. We had a lovely lit central courtyard right outside our room. Absolutely perfect.

Good location close to main route north. Friendly staff, comfortable beds, lovely views over the sea and free parking but an awkward down hill walk for elderly people to get down to the beautiful seaside village where parking is impossible.

Very sweet hotel with friendly, reliable service

Really enjoyed the terrace room -- it had everything we needed to be comfortable and it was nice to step out of the room onto the little terrace adjacent to the garden (despite the less-than-desirable weather). The staff here are very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is clean and well-maintained. We hope to return!

Great small hotel, walk to Beach and restaurants

Great small hotel within a very well renovated old school building. Nice features if the old school retained and decorated. Our room looked into the old playground area that is now planted. Although the hotel is quite close to the main coast road there was no issue with road noise. Would have appreciated some tea/coffee facilities within the room or at least the ability to get hot water. Good breakfast at extra cost.Parking was available but not 'secure'but on the side of the road or a small car park. 10 minute walk to the bars and restaurants of Guethary and easily able to walk to several small beaches.

The hotel has been created out of an old school and it’s lovely to see it given a new life. We liked having breakfast in the garden (which used to be the playground) and having a walk down to the fantastic beaches and cafes of Guethary. We had a room on the second floor and it was very spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was also big and very clean- but I prefer a separate shower. The breakfast was lovely quality and very relaxed, we liked the long tables to share with other guests. I would like the possibility to make hot drinks in the room, but everything else at Balea was perfect.

Loved everything about the hotel! 5 stars!! Patrick and his wife are so welcoming and friendly. The hotel is very clean and updated rooms. Wonderful amenities and lovely rose garden to relax in. Convenient location close to bus stop and can walk to beach and restaurants. Breakfast was awesome with lots of variety and excellent coffee highly recommended! Thanks for a wonderful stay.
