There’s two buildings. The new building is all self check in meaning you have to scan the passport yourself. I personally found that annoying after paying quite a bit of money for the stay. After check in, no one tells you anything including where the dinner/breakfast is at or the public onsen is at. There’s a shuttle service to Gora but you have to reserve it way ahead of time. We messaged the hotel and got no response. We have two young kids with two luggages, and that was a bit of a walk. Also, if you stay more than one night, don’t expect to get your room clean. Apparently, there’s no room cleaning. On the positive note, the dinner and breakfast were delicious. Beds and blankets were very comfy.

Amazing hotel! The onsen in the room was really nice. Everything about the hotel including all the little touches were nothing but 5 stars. Really nice for a special weekend away.

It’s relaxing area but don’t expect any shops nearby. Get what you need before your arrival. Shower area needs a bit cleaning. Overall, it’s clean and quiet for your vacation. It’s a good place to meditation

I don’t think we will be staying ant this hotel again. Very inconvenient. Limited items at the gift shop. Not enough amenities. Kinda disappointed for the price and service.

If you're visiting Hakone, I definitely recommend Laforet Hakone Gora Yunosumika for even a night. Though it's a splurge, it was totally worth it. We slept and dined like royalty -- the rooms were so clean and hip/trendy! Our dinners were delicious and memorable, too. The staff was also extremely kind and offered lots of amenities, like shoes and yukata for using the onsen. The public and private onsens were top notch -- and so relaxing after a week of traveling. The hotel's located not far from some charming mom-and-pop shops and konbinis, too -- but the hotel basically has everything you might need during your stay.

Staff and service were excellent! Also enjoyed their breakfast buffet. Room was nicely appointed and spacious. Laforet is located in a little hilly tight road location and walked to the hotel is about 7 to 15 minutes from Gora station. There was a shuttle in the morning to take us back to Gora station. Overall, I will stay again at the hotel when I visit the Hakone area again.

Hotel was great maybe a little on the old side. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The private onsen was amazing. It was really hot outside and unfortunately, the AC was not strong enough to keep our unit at a very comfortable temperature.

The outdoor private onsen was exactly as advertised and was very nice, however not much of a view and it looks like someone just scrapped off the foggy glass shading. There was quite a bit of mold around all the outdoor shower and tub areas but I suppose that is to be expected with the outdoor amenities? Otherwise the room was spotless and really nice.

Lovely hotel with good sized rooms but bring a car
Good size rooms. Easily fit the two single beds and the 2 futons - so fit our family of four quite well. Bathroom was also well appointed. Nice breakfasts, great service. Comfortable lounge area off the reception. Good location, but you’d want a car to get around. Good fusion of western and Japanese. Beds and pillows were a bit too firm for us, but we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless and would stay here again.

This property is absolutely beautiful, the lobby, onsens, rooms, everything was incredible. Staff accomodated w/ some english as well. Breakfast was very good, all the food is brought to your table due to COVID. Parking is just behind the building, because of the hill recommend drive up to front of lobby, drop bags, then go back down and park. This hotel is up the hill from the main part of Gora, but easily in walking distance of all the other fun things to do in Gora.

We had a lovely stay at Laforet. My family of four had a comfortable sleep and enjoyed our private open air bath on the balcony of the room. The breakfast was delicious and the mountain views in the morning were beautiful. Staff was kind and welcoming. Rooms were clean and there was thorough sanitization throughout the hotel due to Covid.

Quiet ryokan
2 adults with toddler in double room with balcony onsen. Kind staff, nice room, lots of space. Little English spoken, be prepared for that. Must lock shoes at property entrance at arrival (not just room). Beds are hard, which was expected. Covid precautions in place. Quiet. No lunch available - breakfast dinner only (some instant noodles available at hotel shop).

We loved our stay! We only stayed 2 nights and were sad to leave! upon checkin, the staff temp checks all guests and offers sanitizer. She's are taken off and put into cubbies, wheels on suit cases are cleaned. Checkin was very easy. I know a little Japanese but the staff helping had good English skills. Our room looked exactly like the picture! Nice and cozy with a huge hot tub on the deck! We loved everything about the room. Breakfast was a traditional Japanese set which included things like green tea, rice, miso soup, fish, vegetables, pouched egg, and more. Most guests wear the provided yukatas to breakfast and around the hotel. Very friendly staff. Good area that wasn't hard to find and close to train stations. The only complaint I have is that the parking is at the back of a building, partly down a steep hill. So every time we parked, we had to trek up that hill to the entrance as it didn't seem like there was any back entrance for direct access to the parking lot. But overall, we would definitely stay here again if we get the chance!

The property is very clean and guests are expected to roam around without shoes, which are checked into lockers at the entrance. The lobby lounge with a fireplace is a great place to relax and read a book, be on your laptop or just chill with a free iced drink or coffee. The Japanese breakfast is good while the Japanese fusion dinner is okay. The public onsen while not the most modern, offers both indoor and outdoor options and is good enough. The location is not the most accessible and closest access by public mode is the Hakone Cable Car. It would have been better if they offered pick ups from Gora. They do offer shuttles to Gora in the morning though but only has 2 fixed timings.
