I had a pretty good stay. The hotel is certainly dated - the carpet, foundation, walls and doors are old. It is quite clean despite how it looks. Bed was reasonably comfortable. Close to main train station, can be noisy at night.

Although close to the station and in walking distance from all must see places, there are some downsides. The room doors are paper thin and so the noise from the corridors is quite loud especially as lots of guests wake up and leave early.( no need for alarm clock) The breakfast room is quite small, so a bit hard to secure a seat especially if you travel alone as by the time you get a coffee someone else might have taken your chair. The food options are minimal, but enough to get you going in the morning. They could invest in a coffee machine as the filter one is way too weak.

Good for a weekend

Nice clean room, although very small and weirdly planned. Everything was clean and fresh and since we basically only slept here and was out all day it didn't matter that much that it was small. Decent breakfast and friendly staff.

A very good choise when you prioritise location

A very good alternative from a price and location perspective. Extremely close to the Main station in Hamburg. Very nice breakfast (low expectations due to earlier comments from other visitors). Good choose !

Pleasant stay. I was in a top level room. It was dark and had awkward low sloped ceilings. Clean, serviceable, but not extraordinary. Convenient location near the main train station.

Renovated from old building has charm. Family room for 5 was big & very comfortable. Includes elevator. Breakfast was quite good overall. Breads were wonderful. Scrambled eggs was done well. Other choices of meats, fruit mix, cereals and hard boiled eggs. If you opt not to have rooms cleaned, they give you vouchers for beverage.

Harry Potter-like room

Very small, closet-size room but clean and with an ok comfortable bed. No luxury, and fine if you are just there to sleep. The breakfast is basic and does not offer vegan options, so if you are lactose intolerant or vegan, find another place to eat. The hotel is within walking distance from the main train station and restaurants.

This hotel was a nightmare. Unpleasant staff and very small rooms without air condition. The worst was that we noticed bed bugs in our room, that caused a lot of work and time with sanitation etc. The hotel Did not answer our request for compensation. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!

Overall a nice stay

The hotel was overall a pleasant experience. It is within 5mins walking distance to the train station but we weren’t aware of any train noise. It was a surprisingly busy street even though it seemed like a small side street. It is just around the corner from the lake and park which has paths to walk and the option to hire boats. The breakfast area was clean and the staff there attentive and friendly. Good selection of bread cheese and meats as well as cereals. Breakfast was on from 6.30 - 11 at the wkend which meant we had time to do the local parkrun and return in time for food! The bedroom was small but the ceiling was high and the window opened wide so even in the heat we could cool the room. Room was clean but could do with an update especially the carpet.

Due to my work, I am sleeping 2-3 times a month in hotels, and so far, I have always been okay with Novum hotels, but this time I was very disappointed. This was the smallest room I ever has been in, the breakfast was really bad, we only went the first day. I would rate the hotel, to maximum two stars or less. Too expensive for the standard, but sometimes you win sometimes you lose ☹

If you are unlucky to stay on the top floor (5th floor), you will feel you live in the boiler because of no air conditioner and no fan in summer.

Decent hotel with bad staff attitude

The location of the hotel is nice, just walkable distance from the central train station, and there are many nice restaurants around, river side is just across one street away. The room is small but clean and with everything I need. But the building is old so you can hear everyone walking pass the stairs and open the door in your floor. In genera, I a satisfied with the room, facilities and the breakfast. But for the price I would rather to stay in another hotel because the attitude of the staffs in the counter are not very friendly, and seems they are not so willing to help you with any problems. They also not help to carry the luggages even they see you have difficulty to open the heavy door with big suitcase (or they don’t even bother to look).

We came in from a long flight and journey; approximately two days,anrrived ant 10.40 pm, only to be greeted with, we have no reservation for you. Showed the booking, then to be told there are no more rooms, but you can walk two minutes to another partner hotel. Said to the clerk, that we just paid a taxi to arrive here, coupled with the fact that it was raining and it was our first time in Germany. He made a call and said a taxi would come soon, just wait outside to flag the taxi. Taxi arrives, but refuses to take all three of us, with our three pieces of luggage. Said one of you would have to walk; with luggage;only two minutes away and proceeded to give directions. No choice at this stage but comply as all you want to do at this stage is get to your destination. Upon arrival at the other hotel, issue again with the taxi driver about payment, which had to be settled by the hotel. Not a very warm welcome to Germany. Must say though that the clerk at the partner hotel was satisfactory. Gave the basic information about room number and breakfast. NOT ONCE DID ANY MEMBER OF HOTEL STAFF OFFER ANY TYPE OF APOLOGY Actually don’t see why I have to pay for this type of service.

Gute Lage, freundlich, gutes Frühstück

Ich war angenehm überrascht. Das Zimmer war zwar klein, aber hatte einen Schrank und bequemes Bett und sah relativ neu renoviert aus. Unser Zimmer lag zum Innenhof und war ruhig. Wir haben uns wohl gefühlt und das Frühstück genossen. Es war besser, als ich für den von uns bezahltem Preis erwartet häte, zumal unserre Tochter um die Ecke in einem anderen Hotel nicht so gut untergebracht war.
