Beautiful location, house and amenities are not exceptional
Based on the photos provided, I thought the property would be tired. I was not expecting the complete lack of upkeep.
On a positive note, the view was beautiful. It was the best part about the house. The beds were also comfortable and the linens/towels were ample.
The kitchen was reportedly fully stocked - and I am sure it once was, but no one has managed things. There was part of a lobster pot, but not enough components to actually cook lobster. There were bread and paring knives, but no chef's knife to cut anything of substance. No pot to cook pasta - I could go on. Nothing was in a general state of disarray.
For the pool - the deck was pretty covered with weeds. The pool accessories were in a closet - most were completely covered with black mold and mildew. Only one raft was remotely usable.
All the screen doors to the deck were covered in mildew/mold.
The deck furniture was definitely on it's last legs - most chairs were threadbare with holes and the table desperately needed a bleach scrub. The deck itself had quite a few spots of wear and splinter hazard. The roof and beams had visible holes and were home to bees.
The heating/air conditioning was completely out of whack. Everyday I had to reset the heat so it wouldn't come on and compete with the air conditioning.
All in all, we had a great family vacation - the house was fine - certainly not "exceptional" as advertised.
