The Steinhuder Meer is the largest inland lake in Lower Saxony. It is ideal for cyclists, hikers or water sports enthusiasts (sailing, surfing, kitesurfing). But also for those who just want to relax and enjoy nature. There are boat rentals for sailing, electric, pedal or rowing boats on site. Bicycles can also be rented.

A holiday in a holiday apartment on the Steinhuder Meer is a pleasure for young and old, for nature lovers and water sports enthusiasts. The Steinhuder Meer lies approx. 30 km west of Hanover and with 32 square kilometers is the largest lake in Lower Saxony, in the heart of the nature park of the same name with a size of 310 square kilometers. The most important resorts on the Steinhuder Meer are Mardorf, Steinhude, Hagenburg and Rehburg-Loccum. The landscape is diverse with dunes, bogs, heath, wet meadows, deciduous and coniferous forests and reed areas. Enjoy water, pure nature, fresh air and tranquility during your stay in the holiday home on the Steinhuder Meer.
Leisure opportunities around the apartment on the Steinhuder Meer
There are numerous leisure activities on water and on land at the Steinhuder Meer. Water sports fans will get their money's worth here with boating, sailing, kitesurfing and windsurfing. Boat rental stations as well as sailing and windsurfing schools around the Steinhuder Meer offer first-class equipment and qualified instruction. The Steinhuder Meer has become a popular center especially for kitesurfing. In season there are over 90 sailing regattas at the Steinhuder Meer. The Steinhuder Meer is also known for the so-called "emigrants" - over 100 year old sailing boats that only exist here. Swimming and bathing in the lake is allowed and is extra fun in healthy moor water. The focal point is the artificial, 35,000 square meter bathing island in Steinhude in the south with a sandy beach and sunbathing areas. The guarded bathing beach "White Dune" on the north shore in Mardorf lures. The surf beach is also nearby. Guests who prefer to be sailed rather than lend a hand on the boat are in good hands on an excursion on a passenger ship or the emigrants. Golfers will find two golf courses in Rehburg-Loccum and Mardorf. Bird lovers will find an important bird sanctuary and breeding and resting place for numerous wading and water birds in the Steinhuder Meer Nature Park. A nature park information center is located in the listed Scheunenviertel in Steinhude. Vacationers will find a variety of cycling, hiking and riding trails through beautiful landscapes around the lake. Cyclists can cycle 32 km around the Steinhuder Meer, partly along the water, partly through idyllic nature. And if you are still bored in your apartment on the Steinhuder Meer, enjoy yourself in the high ropes course in Mardorf, tennis, horse riding, mini golf, fishing or in the numerous indoor and outdoor pools in the region. In bad weather, of course, a trip to the metropolis of Hanover is just a stone's throw away.

Arrival to the apartment at Steinhuder Meer
The easiest way to reach your holiday apartment on Steinhuder Meer is by car via the A2, A7 and B6, B441, B442, B482, B215 and B214. Travel by train from Hannover Hbf with the Regionalexpress or with the S-Bahn to Wunstorf or Neustadt am Rübenberge in approx. 20 minutes and from there with bus lines 710/711 or 715 to Steinhude. In summer there is also an hourly bicycle bus (line 835) from Wunstdorf to Mardorf, Steinhude or Hagenburg.
