Cresta Lodge presents a mix of thoughtful service and notable shortcomings. Arrival was efficient and welcoming, with the bellhop well-prepared and aware of my check-in.
However, my assigned suite room was poorly thought out: the living area had no lighting whatsoever, making evening work impossible. Although the reception responded promptly with lamps, the solution exposed further oversight – there was no power socket to plug in the lamp. This necessitated a room change.
The second room was better equipped, and I appreciate Olivia for ensuring it met my needs. WiFi quality was good but inconsistent across the room, something remote workers should verify before settling in.
Dinner service at the main restaurant was disappointing. After being seated, I waited over 20 minutes without any attention while other tables were repeatedly served. I eventually left and had a far better experience at the coffee shop, where staff were attentive, professional, and welcoming.
The room itself felt stuffy and insufficiently deep-cleaned, evidenced by a slipper left under the bed from a previous guest. On my final night, housekeeping staff entered my room while I was still sleeping, despite the door being locked, and left upon realizing it was occupied.
During my stay, the Twenty20 Cricket Competition was underway, with two teams lodged at Cresta. Heavy room service usage resulted in food trays and plates frequently left in corridors, creating unpleasant odors.
Overall: average.
