Home from home
Hotel is so cosy and homely. But Mani and his wife are the most incredible hosts I have ever come across , and I have travelled . We will really miss them and can’t wait to comeback. The breakfast was exceptional. I would totally recommend this place

Stayed one night, and it was a comfortable stay. However, the property is much more compact than it appears in photos, and the breakfast was rather bland.

Not going again!
Place was cosy with modern touches. Room was cold, the air conditioner did not work to heat up the room, management advised that it would work after 30 minutes- I found this odd as it was not making a sound or blowing air immediately. Toilet was not washed properly upon arrival, cob webs on the thatch poles. We were not given the wifi password and the room is not sound proof at all. You can hear everything from the room next door! It really is a beautiful set up with the garden and dinning area. The room needs some TLC and the staff need to be trained. I doubt I will be returning again.

Comfy stay
Really nice, comfy and convenient base for a week working in the area. Very pleasant to relax by the pool in the evenings.

Owners were a little funny. Did not reply to any of my messages I send to them regarding our arrival time. In the room, no information regarding breakfast time or internet password. Room was comfortable but not 100% clean - behind bed dirty. Bright the chef was very friendly, informative and made a mean breakfast. The rest of the guests house is absolutely beautiful and will recommend.

How did Kassaboera Lodge get 4 stars?
We paid extra for the honeymoon suite but there is no sound insulation between the rooms so we could hear the couple next door, every word of their conversation, them going to the toilet, (yes the actual sounds)the toilet seat going down, every time they changed the channel on the tv and we couldn't actually complain because they weren't being loud or shouting but our whole stay felt like we were sharing a room with another couple. They went to bed at 2am. The carpet at the foot of the bed was so dirty I didn't want to take my shoes off, the water out the basin (right hand side) is a brownish and the water pressure is so bad that the water doesn't even make it into the basin. Both taps are loose. I sachet of Nescafe at the coffee station? our friend in the other room didn't even get 1. We got the wifi password but none of our devices could find a signal, so while were being kept awake we couldn't even work on our emails. We had to leave before the restaurant opened, and there is no option of a packed breakfast to go? I would expect all of these things if I was staying at a backpackers or camping in a tent but we were expecting to stay at a 4 star lodge. My wife and I have been working in Hospitality for 20 years now. We have dealt with difficult clients, we understand challenges in the industry and as a result we never complain at hotels or restaurants but our stay at Kassaboera was beyond disappointing

Ok for a one night stopover
The hotel is in a great location on the edge of the reservoir. However, the room we were given (and were told was the same as all rooms when we tried to change it) did not separate the bathroom from the bedroom. Not really ideal if you're sharing, even as a couple! Also, all the cupboards in the room were locked so we couldn't use the storage space. Odd.

Loved it!
It was absolutely fantastic!!!! We enjoyed every moment of the stay! it was for our 5 year anniversary, everything was in close proximity. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the mornings was amazing. I will definitely give it a 10 / 10 and recommend it to others.

Lovely setting beside the lake with balconies to relax on and a well maintained property. Some odd rules about not bringing alcohol when there was never anyone at the bar in the establishment. Very good breakfast.

Overall the lodge has a pleasant and warm feeling, in a great location. The staff were friendly, even though the language barrier posed a slight problem. The room was spacious and cosy for our requirements, however the glass panel concept for the toilet is just freaky. A certain level of privacy is sometimes required, especially if you are not sharing with a partner and even then it is weird. Maintenance is clearly an issue at the lodge. There were ants and ant carcasses all over the property and we were advised on checking out that they have a major ant problem. However, this should not deter housekeeping from keeping tabs on all the rooms to ensure that ant infestation is limited, if not eliminated and/or cleaned up from the rooms on a more regular basis other than the once over the rooms receive when cleaned. Nothing like waking up to find your luggage covered in ants. Our shower could have done with a good scrub down and the shower head needs replacing as we had water going all over the shower, resulting in wastage. Most of the lights required new globes, something again that housekeeping should keep tabs on. After all they are in the rooms on a daily basis and should report any maintenance issues. Bathroom amenities also require some attention and/or upgrading and should be consistent through all the rooms. The only "problem" with the lodge is the apparent lack of maintenance and the glass window in the toilet.

Conveniently situated close to key attractions in Hartbeespoort, yet away from the hustle and bustle. Nice views of the dam. Staff were friendly but by them being foreigners from Malawi found it difficult to communicate on more complex issues. The rooms were nicely layed out. It was strange to see your room companion on the toilet through the glass walls. A maintenance weekend is suggested. Whilst we were told that the complex was plagued by ants , surely dead ant carcasses all over can be cleaned every so often. It would also be beneficial to provide better amenities for a four star establishment including insect spray for the ants and mosquito repellent. Rooms need a deep clean urgently. We rented two rooms and in both the rooms only half the globes were working. This indicates a lack of attention to detail and general maintenance. Internet connectivity sporadic and more a hindrance than benefit.

OK für Durchreise
Beim Eingangstor gibt es 3 Telefonnummern die man anwählen kann. Idealerweise hat man also eine lokale SIM-Karte um Einlass zu erhalten. Eine Klingel wäre nützlicher. Düsteres Zimmer und kleines Bad. Nicht sehr sauber und leicht muffiger Geruch. Der Frühstückstisch war angenehm präsentiert in „feudalem“ Restaurant. Die warmen Speisen wurden auf einer grossen Platte serviert. Freundliche Mitarbeiter.
