Comfy Cabin on Lake Honeoye

Cabin is as described. Beautiful views. The electronics need to be updated - it needs a smart TV. Property mangement company is not very responsive.

Eclipse viewing place

Really, it was so nice! Very clean and the views were spectacular! Kitchen was well stocked. We took the canoe on a little paddle on the lake. A nice touch was a little goody bag for our dog! The one frustrating thing was the pull out couch bed seemed to be broken. Usually they just pull right out, but something was jammed. We didn’t want to break it so we gave up. So sleeps 8 was really sleeps 6. We had one teenager sleep on the couch and one on an air mattress we brought just in case. It didn’t ruin our trip or anything, just inconvenient. We would definitely stay here again. I’m sure it’s lovely in the summer. Too bad it was cloudy for the eclipse! Was a beautiful viewing spot.

Wonderful except….

The scenery is beautiful but we could not access the dock because of duck pollution. The home needs maintenance per list sent to contact. Infestation of ants made it uncomfortable. Garbage and recycling was never picked up. Home was very comfortable and as described. Very clean with exception as reported. Gift bags for us and dog very appreciated and useful. A guest book would be nice for renters to see where others have come from. Linens excellent and plentiful. Smart TV would be nice. Air conditioners very appreciated even though we only needed one day. Swimming was non existent as area was covered with floating weeds and algae. Believe this could be the season causing this. As reported, kitchen tap needs replacing, ledges between windows need cleaning, dining room light full of bugs, entrance steps need repair. Ants terrible, we kept all unpackaged food and fruit in the fridge. No outdoors balcony light that was working, and front entrance very faint, suggested security light, need rubber mat upstairs bath tub, height of TV uncomfortable for viewing, etc. regardless of the cons, I would recommend this spot for others for the tranquility and beautiful scenery.

Honeoye

Great place. Shouldn't really be listed as having air conditioning. For the price we paid this home had one small window air conditioning unit. It was a 3 bedroom 2 floor house?? One window unit? Not even close to cool. Thank goodness for the grill because had we needed the oven it would have been awful. Also this is advertised as a swimming friendly place. Seaweed was so thick at the dock I wouldn't get in. Let alone let my kids. We adapted and overcame for vacations sake but their should be a little more transparency about the listings amenities.

Overall review

We were impressed with the interior layout and cleanliness of the interior. The exterior needed some work. Cellar exterior glass door was broken, glass was present. Deck was in need of staining, and was a little disappointed that pictures on line showed a double wide dock part of the way where we thought we could sit on and this was taken out and left on the side of the yard. (The pic on line should be changed I guess) Clothes dryer was not working properly but this was addressed promptly after my call. Neighbors were very pleasant. Overall we had a very nice stay, fishing was great, fireworks around the lake were beautiful, and the boating was awesome. Great location also. It was pretty warm this week, air condition would have made things a little more comfortable. Homeaway was very professional and a pleasure to work with!
