Belén #market (inside the barrio de Belén, a suburb of Iquitos) is probably the most interesting market I visited in the whole of Peru. As well having the usual (and some of the more unusual) fruits, vegetables, fish, and meats for sale, Belén is where you'll find an abundance of natural products from the nearby Amazon jungle. These are either for sale in their organic state or had been made into various different medicines, tonics, and potions. Pedro, the resident jaguar at Pilpintuwasi. Sad to see such a beautiful animal behind a fence, but with deforestation and poaching on the rise, he is safer here. Pilpintuwasi is a small centre for endangered wildlife on the Amazon River which also doubles as a Butterfly Farm. If you're in Iquitos, this is a must see!

We had dead mosquitoes in the bed sheets. However, the receptionist was always friendly and helpful. Also, the water isn’t clean, it’s slightly brown. But this is because Iquitos is in the Amazon jungle.
