The breakfast starts too late so I had to leave and pay for breakfast elsewhere. There was a bus full of people outside with the same issue. The hotel is old and tired. Clean, and the food was average. The staff were efficient but not particularly friendly. Not a single smile during the checking procedure. Felt very cold and impersonal.Too expensive for such and old, tired, average hotel.

Parking was awkward as we had to park in the back. The hotel was over priced for what we got, due to the location. The bed could use two more pillows. Hotel appeared slightly run down, older, and for the price, you’d hope they’d slap on some new paint at least.

Wir verstehen die schlechten Bewertungen nicht. Das Hotel war gut, drei Einzelbetten, Zimmer gross genug, schönes Bad. Parkplätze beim Hotel waren alle besetzt, aber ein paar Schritte entfernt, hat es einen grossen, kostenlosen öffentlichen Parkplatz. Frühstück typisch englisch, Eier, Baked beans, Toast etc. Wir waren zufrieden

Breakfast good. Room could have been cleaner, coffee stains on the window ledge, which I had to clean off. Bathroom floor very dusty around the skirting boards. Shower very close to slanted wall, made it difficult to wash, standing up straight. The mattress cover was showing signs of fluff underneath.

Tutta la struttura avrebbe bisogno di essere ristrutturata e isolata acusticamente, purtroppo si sente tutto dalle camere vicine e quando qualcuno passa nel corridoio tutto il pavimento scricchiola. La porta dell'ingresso della camera si apre a fatica, striscia sulla moquette in camera, il bagno andrebbe rimodernato, in alcuni punti del piatto doccia manca lo smalto. L'unica cosa che si salva è la colazione, buona e abbondante, tutto il resto è da dimenticare.

Property is older so rooms were small but beds were comfortable. Breakfast had lots of options and it was nice not to have to leave the hotel. We found good restaurants for dinner in Breakin ( Red Skye) & Bradford (Claymore) a 10-15 min drive away. Kyleakin is a a good hour to the hikes on the Trotternish Peninsula and 30 min to Portree so you need to plan around that travel time.

We booked this hotel because unfortunately all of the hotels in Portree were sold out or $800+ per night (don’t make the same mistake - book well in advance if you’re going during peak season)! The reviews definitely scared me, it wasn’t that bad but it was also extremely overpriced for what you got. Very very outdated hotel, breakfast is terrible, rooms are not soundproof and they smell like mold. Would not stay here again. Otherwise the staff were nice and the dog was friendly (not sure why they have bad reviews for the dog lol).

Overall the hotel is well appointed and has an easy charm about it. The staff we very good and other than the bed being very small for two people, we enjoyed our stay.
