"This is a true gem! Right on the lake with a lovely pool. The setting is fantastic. We loved the old fashioned touches such as turn down service in the evening with towels refreshed at night as well as in the morning. The hotel has been recently refurbished so the bedrooms are well thought out and nicely appointed without being too formal. We had a room overlooking the lake and loved waking up to the sun streaming in through the windows before heading down to a gorgeous breakfast. It has to be said that the food is amazing! The added bonus is that the ferry is just along the road which makes it really easy to hop over to other towns for the day, although the little town of Menaggio is charming and nowhere near as crowded as Bellagio. We will definitely be going back to this great hotel."

"Just got back from our second time here (May 2026 and May 2025). Both times were great weeks here as a family of 4 - two adults and kids aged 12/13 and 8/9. Great location, brilliant swimming pool, relaxed atmosphere. Loved the mini club for younger kids in the morning and the mini disco in the evening. Great little shop on site. Didn't use the cafe/ bar but lots of people did. Only thing is that it can get a bit noisy from other guests and/ or neighbouring campsites - this affected us more in the first year and not at all this year."

"The hotel is absolutely beautiful & well maintained in every detail. Kudos to the gardening staff for the magnificent surroundings bathed in the scent of jasmine. Spa experience (massage & facial) was excellent. My lake view superior room was lovely, clean. I’d think twice before staying here again for 1 reason: the sub-standard food. We dined at Il Borromeo 3 times & none of our dishes were hot nor prepared as ordered. They came out of the kitchen too quickly after ordering so we gathered they were pre-made. One night we ordered Wagyu steaks, medium rare. They were thin cut, served COLD & medium well; vegetables & sauce also stone cold. Sent them back & received well done meat. Sent that back & ordered the tagliata steaks, medium rare …got medium. The cacio e pepe was lukewarm, veal without flavor. The carbonara was also lukewarm & sticky rather than creamy. Bread was hard & lacked flavor. As for the breakfast served in Il Borromeo all the various croissants were dry (so disappointing). The lone bright spot for dining is Le Bistrot — the poolside snack bar! Great food there. Other small things need work: water bottles not replaced during our 4 day stay, no mint at turndown is odd for a 5-star, CNN not working even though we reported it twice. At check in Reception did not have a record of my pre-booked spa appointment & said *I* should call the spa to confirm. (Umm, no, that’s your job, Sir.) Restaurant staff more concerned about breaking down tables than serving guests."

"Hotel Excelsior Splendide was amazing! The location was absolutely perfect, with everything in Bellagio just a short walk away. Our room had a beautiful view of Lake Como, and we loved relaxing by the pool after exploring. The hotel was beautiful, the room was great, and the included breakfast was an added bonus. We couldn't recommend it more!"
