The Amara is the perfect location to enjoy Ixtapa: on the beach, multiple pool options, outdoor bar with drinks and snacks, gym, friendly staff and right across the street from markets and restaurants. There is a 20 USD per person fee for this though, contrary to the listing that there are no hidden fees. The unit was perfect for us as a family. Great bedroom and bathroom set up, fairly well equipped kitchen although missing a few of the amenities listed: toaster, paper towels, spices and note that you need to supply your own shampoo and toilet paper. The large balcony has an amazing view, we enjoyed coffee there every morning, and a drink at the end of the day. Overall a great stay, we would definitely come back. The rating was only downgraded due to limited communication with the host (attentive when there was a maintenance issue but not for the assistance we needed with wifi, taking advantage of the meal prep offer and a request re late checkout option).

Beautiful Location

We have stayed in Ixtapa a dozen times over the past few years. This was our first time at the Amara and we fell in love with the property.Unfortunately we had a number of issues during this stay. Some, the owner had no control over but others it seemed could have been dealt with more swiftly. The main problem was a lack of internet for the entire first week (the other condo we had also rented did have internet so it wasn't an Amara wide issue). We work remotely and our kids are in online school so it was tough to not have that. The condo is beautiful and clean. Ample towels and blankets. No toaster and you need to purchase matches or lighter to light the stove as it is gas (this is not explained anywhere so we couldn't use the stove for days).There was confusion on my end about housekeeping. In the fine print after booking it states that you have to pay to have housekeeping come at all. It was frustrating to not know this. Our other condo at the Amara, the owner included housekeeping 3 times per week. The balcony (and 2 bedrooms) overlook the Krystal pool where they party with LOUD music overnight. Over Christmas and NYE, there were spotlights and music that kept us up until 4am. Bring earplugs and eye masks. Ixtapa itself is beautiful and perfect and we will go back again and again-likely to the Amara from now on, but our different frustrations with this unit distracted from being able to fully relax so we would stay in a different unit.

Location. Location, Location

Trip with 4 couples for sun, fun and fishing.The great! Location! so close to Ixtapa for suppers out, amazing beach for beach walksNice size condo for a group to socialize inside and outside on the patio.Not so great.Poor communication from property manager, messages often not returned.Luckily we did not plan to cook much, kitchen not stocked well. No sharp knives, no toaster, dishwasher we did not use if fear of flooding the unit.Ran out of toilet paper day 2 - not a big problem if we knew we needed to supply but communicate this then.Check-in took a bit of time to find where the office was located- instructions prior to arrival would have been nice.Beds need to be updated. Blinds difficult to raise and lower in 2 bedrooms.AMARA is amazing BUT many other units to rent so will seek those out next time.Ixtapa does not ever disappoint!!

Great location and lovely views. Lupita the house keeper was a delight. She also cooked a meal once a week. Excellent! Spent a wonderful month there.

Excellent property

Our stay was amazing, the property was everything as described and more. Our property manager Michelle was excellent, she was readily available via text/messenger for all of our questions. She also helped set up the two meals we had cooked in house. To say the food prepared for us was amazing would be an understatement, this is a must for us when we come back only we would get Lupita to come at least three times. Cory & Carmen Davey

Family Vacation

The condo was spacious with an amazing oceanfront view! The staff was very friendly and helpful, we were treated like family! Lupita was very helpful, greeted us and made us feel at home. We look forward to coming back!

Great property

The Amara is an amazing property that was perfect for our family of 8. This listing was as described and the facilities are top notch. All of the staff were wonderful especially Lupita to help clean and keep the condo in order!! Hoping to go back soon!!

Family get away

The condo was very nice and the view was spectacular. The kitchen was well stocked. We only used it for breakfast and lunch. We ate out for dinner every night. The beds were comfortable and there are plenty of towels. The beach area and pools were relaxing and easy to find chairs. There is one court at the complex that is dedicated to pickleball that we used frequently. The only 2 negatives are: we were given 1 key for the room which makes it difficult when our group split up and went out for the day, and one of the ladies that worked at the pool bar was grumpy (not the owner of the condo's fault). We were surprised because the condo we stayed at prior to the Amara had excellent pool bar service..

Comfortable and Clean

We have stayed at the Amara in the past and love it. This condo allowed us to enjoy our stay very much, it was very comfortable for the 8 people in our group. The condo is very clean, had no technical issues, and there is not a ton of furniture or frills so you can really enjoy the area.

Magnificent! Better than described. The condo was clean and comfortable. The property is better than any around it. Clean, quiet, and easy to use for my 92yo father in law in his wheelchair. Check in was the easiest I’ve ever experienced in Mexico. Don’t hesitate to have Lupita cook for You. She has the skills of a professional chef, plus the TLC!! We will be back for sure!!

Surprise!!!

Place was clean, great view, ac didn’t work right. friendly staff but there were surprises that we didn’t count on. paying extra money for bracelets per person (300 pesos), a down payment of 1000 pesos to open a bar tab, you can only use to chairs on the beach or pool..

We stayed here over New Years - 4 couples. It was fabulous! The beds were super comfortable and the linens were new and clean. The view from the balcony was just stunning. The only downfall of the property was the location of the office - difficult to find if you do not know the area. Also, there is a charge for the bracelets at time of check in. The pool bar is run on credit only. You need to put money down in order to use it. Other than those couple things, the place was an absolute dream. It was perfect for our trip. Ixtapa is always at the top of my travel plans!

Wonderful complex, unit needs maintenance

Yes, loved our stay, unit needs maintenance. This is our third time staying at Amara. The place is fantastic. Grounds and pools wonderful, spacious and well kept. Balcony gorgeous for viewing the sunsets. Unfortunately, this unit had issues with the A/C and the water not working while we were there. The owner sent Maintenance staff to try to repair it, but they didn’t come up with a permanent, workable fix, so we vacated the unit after 4 days. Beds and lined linens are also are to the point of needing replacement. If owner can take care of these concerns, one could stay there moving forward. Again, owner tried, to get help, but problems not resolved soon enough.
