Cozy cabin getaway

We needed a place close by to some family that would allow a dog and the cabin was just the place! only 20 mins from Sullivan, The house sits with a view of the pond and the sunrise while drinking coffee, everything we needed! The hosts are wonderful, can't wait to come back in the spring or summer to fish!

Wonderful Stay

We stayed at Poplar Ridge as a group of 5 friends to enjoy the Solar Eclipse. We had a great stay, the communication was great, the location was great, and the cabin was cozy and comfortable. The property was beautiful, we enjoyed watching a beautiful sunrise each day.

The pictures don't do it justice! So beautiful and peaceful. Loved walking the trails and using the boat to go fishing. The hosts were so nice and helpful. There were even fresh cookies on our arrival:) Can't wait to come back!!

This was a great place to stay. Both the house and the property were well maintained and clean. The overall impression is one of care. The additional boat house was a pleasant surprise. Definitely worth a trip.

Perfect Birthday Getaway

We always try to rent a cabin for my husband’s birthday every year. This cabin did not disappoint! From the moment we arrived we were greeted with hospitality. The owner gave us a personal tour of the property and history upon arrival and there was a plate of delicious homemade cookies waiting! The fishing was fantastic. Even our 5 year old caught several bass and bluegill. We took a nature walk around the grounds, played in the creek and made s’mores in the fire pit. This was the perfect place to unplug and really reconnect as a family!

A Real Cabin

this property is great fun - - fire pit, lake, fishing, outside area, trail through the woods. the cabin is a real cabin, not just a look-alike. small rooms, a few cobwebs, but the best part was the game room. Picture a large room with windows looking out on the lake and sunrise each morning, room to gather around the table for hot dogs from the grill on the porch a few feet away or to play card games at the big table. One night we went down to the lake and grilled burgers over the fire pit which has a rack and everything including wood - - and sat around the fire and listened to the crickets. Really! Great stay.

Slice of Indiana Heaven

This cabin is hands-down one of the best places we've ever stayed! The location, just a short drive from Shackamack State Park, was absolutely perfect for our little getaway. But honestly, we hardly wanted to leave because the property itself felt like our own private park! From the moment we arrived, it was pure peace and quiet—spotty service meant we could really disconnect, which was just what we needed. The lake was like a mirror in the morning, offering up stunning sunrises that you just have to see to believe. Whether you’re lounging in the hammock, fishing, or just soaking in the beauty, this place is nothing short of magical.The owner was fantastic—friendly and accommodating, making sure we felt right at home. If you're looking for a place to relax, recharge, and enjoy all the beauty Indiana has to offer, this is it. We're already planning our next trip, and if you're thinking about booking, don't hesitate—this place is a treasure!

Cleanliness

Nice cabin, great location, great hosts. However, the cleanliness left much to be desired. Tub and shower in both bathrooms was filthy. We scoured and cleaned the tub before we could use it. We decided not to use shower in master bath since it was worse with so much dirt and hair. My 80 year old father refused to step foot in the showers after seeing them, saying he would wait till he got home. The master bed was full of dog hair on the sheets, we had to cover with another sheet and strip the blankets off. Thank goodness we brought some blankets. The dish strainer had so much crud and dirt built up, my mother spent 20 minutes cleaning it so we had something clean to put dishes in after we washed them. Fridge was dirty inside. I had to stop my 78 year old mother several times from cleaning on the cabin, telling her thats NOT what we were there to do. The host was great, very friendly and helpful although we didnt share our disappoinment with the uncleanliness. We were already there, nothing they would have been able to do about it at that point. We decided to make the best of it and learn. Again, cabin is great, location perfect, host is great...cleanliness was terrible and because of that, we will not be returning. goodness we brought our own blankets

We had a great time here! From check in with David and the freshly baked cookies to the last day was great! We came for some relaxation and fishing and got just that in! We will be back!

We had a wonderful weekend. We celebrated my parent’s 60th anniversary. Dave and Sandy were fantastic. We had an issue and he came right out. Great communication. The chocolate chip cookies made a nice welcome. Great fishing. Definitely recommend this cabin.

5th year staying here

As always, David and Sandy were great hosts and continued to improve on an already great cabin. Fishing was plentiful as was the wildlife. We always enjoy staying here, no neighbors, no noise and complete privacy. We are looking forward to year 6!

A great place!

Such a quiet and serene place. We loved it. 10 of us 63 years to 80 years old for a family reunion. It is a beautiful rustic cabin that had every midern convenience. We want to and WILL be back! Thank you David and Sandy! Sandy even had fresh baked cookies for us!
