Great Stay!
I highly recommend this property! It is a very cute cabin. Our boys loved it and felt like they were staying in a treehouse. The community is great and we really enjoyed eating at the restaurant in the community clubhouse. It was very convenient. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The owner always responded quickly and had excellent communication. The book detailing community info in the cabin was extremely helpful. 10 out of 10!

Great stay!
This place was great and cozy! It was just enough room for my husband and myself plus the king size bed was very comfortable! The only downfall was the Hott water, it didn’t stay Hott long enough for a relaxing tub bath. Everything else was absolutely great and we can’t wait to come back!

Hi Maci - thanks for the feedback on the hot water, we will have that checked on, that is the first we have heard about it. It was the coldest weekend of the year in the single digits so not sure if that had any bearing. But happy you enjoyed everything else. PS - We did follow up and had the Hot Water Heater checked. They said nothing was wrong other than the extreme cold and that they received many requests to check hot water heaters after that extreme cold weekend.

Fall getaway in rustic cabin
My wife and adult son stayed here for three nights at the end of October. Big Canoe is a well-kept upscale resort community with lots of amenities. The unit was in a cluster of similarly built units but each had its own space on the slope of a wooded hill. It was comfortable and well outfitted including a propane fire "pit" - we made smores - and grill. The hiking - Amicolola Falls - and fishing - Lake Petit - in the community was great. One downside was seasonal hours for restaurants - in fall/winter, plan drive or cooking inside, which was fine.

Thank you Jim for the nice review. We do realize restaurant availability is an issue and do our best to warn folks. In some ways we wish we had more restaurants but then, that would mean that our little slice of heaven would be out of the bag and not sure the impact wouldn't change the area.

Perfect Getaway
This was the perfect escape for the two of us. Originally we planned on some friends joining us but they couldn’t make it. The property was an amazing escape from the hustle and bustle of life. So great that two weeks later we still talk about it and wanting to return just to relax from the hustle and bustle. The host was extremely attentive leading up to our arrival and we had no need to contact them once we arrived. We miss the chili that was served at the club house as well. I would highly recommend this place!

Couples Getaway
Clean, cozy and comfortable. Bearfeet Retreat provides a panoramic view of the mountain treetops and vivid fall colors. If you are looking for a quiet couples getaway that provides rest and relaxation this place will not disappoint. Thank you Philip, you were a great host!

Great place for a getaway!
The property was as advertised and clean. The property is well equipped just bring your food, drinks, and snacks. The location is located in a beautiful part of Georgia in an extremely large and fantastic private community. The roads throughout the community are recently paved and well maintained. However, a GPS equipped vehicle is recommended, as getting to the property is not easy if you only navigate by a map. Overall, it is a great place to stay and relax.

Relaxing hiking vacation
Very clean, host very responsive, lovely resort community. Nice hiking trails, people we met at Big Canoe all very friendly, would definitely like to come back in summer to use pool and lakefront beach. Convenient to Amicalola State Park. HVAC blower was very noisy white noise but maybe that’s just the contrast since everything else was so quiet and peaceful. overall 5 stars.

Darling Tree Topper
This darling little tree topper was just perfect for my friend and me. It was centrally located in Big Canoe, it was sparklingly clean, and it was decorated very tastefully. The furnishings were attractive and comfortable, including the mattresses, and we had everything we could ever need. We loved our time there!

60th Anniversary Getaway
As previous owners in Big Canoe we chose to return for 3 days to celebrate our 60th anniversary and spend time with Big Canoe friends reflecting on our many years in Big Canoe. Bearfeet Retreat was cozy and comfortable and provided all the necessities for our stay. Owners provide all the information you need to help you settle into the treetopper and to guide you to all the activities provided in Big Canoe. Of course, we were familiar with the many amenities but for the first time visitor, you will be well informed. Communication with Philip and Meg was excellent with quick response. We have to put a plug in for HOME restaurant located just outside the north gate. It is superb and has remained so for many many years. A must dining experience. Big Canoe will always have a special place in our life memories. Thanks Bearfeet Retreat for the welcoming bottle of champagne and for your hospitality. We’ll return in the future.

Relax and Reset
This was a getaway I didn't realize I needed...wanted but most importantly needed. Super quiet and though you have the accessibility to stay connected to the world if you should choose to. At this location, you will definitely choose not to. The area inclusive of the trails and lake nearby worth the drive out of the Atlanta for the moment to reset.

Wonderful family getaway in cozy treetop cabin!
My husband and our two kids wanted a summer getaway to Big Canoe and our stay at this cozy treetop cabin didn’t disappoint! The owner was an excellent communicator and gave me numerous dining recommendations. He was extremely accommodating and attentive to us throughout our stay. I can’t recommend this cabin enough!

Change of scenery
This place is gorgeous! Everything was clean and had all the comforts of home, without the traffic and noise. We loved the privacy of the rental, even though we had neighbors we rarely saw them. Check in and out was a breeze and Phillip was quick to respond to any questions we had. Also a nice surprise, as we were celebrating a birthday, there was a nice bottle of champagne as a welcome! We will be back for sure! We loved Big Canoe and all the beauty it had to offer.

Wonderful time
We celebrated our 11 year anniversary during our stay. We were welcomed with a wine and a sweet note. This place is a gem and great value. Both beds are extremely comfortable. Heaven in a treehouse
My husband and I had such a wonderful time at the treehouse. The property was exactly as described and even though the space was small, we were very comfortable. The way that the light came in in the mornings was gorgeous and we were lucky enough to be staying there when we could open the sliding windows and have a sense of the outside coming in. The 'bucket' tub in the bathroom was adorable and even though my husband was actually too big for it, he went in each evening, smiles. The kitchen had everything we needed, the bedrooms were comfortable etc. Just perfect. And the hosts were wonderful. They left us wine and a welcome note and were so accommodating with everything. We feel lucky to have had this experience.

In the treetop canopy
Nice setting in the trees in Big Canoe. This place was just big enough for two couples and grandbaby. Enjoyed breakfast outside on deck. This community is so big , you need more than two days to look around. Our family did a boat ride, played pickle ball and hiked to the lower falls. We ate dinner at Home Restaurant just outside Big Canoe. Weather was pleasantly cool and nice. Altogether a nice weekend visit in the North Georgia hills!!!

We have stayed here several times and every time it has been a very enjoyable experience. The decor and the cleanliness of the Treetopper is fantastic and we make use of all the amenities. Wonderful Stay at Bearfeet Retreat
This is my third stay at Bearfeet Retreat and my fondness for this treehouse cabin only grows larger. The interior décor is inviting and friendly with many small touches that say “Welcome”. I spent countless hours on the deck reading and soaking up the beauty. It is truly a place to recharge and find inner peace again… plus just have a lot of fun using the Big Canoe amenities and going on local hikes and eating at the various restaurants in the area. Thank you for creating such a wonderful "home away from home".

Nana- Grandson Road Trip
This was my second visit to Bearfeet Retreat. This time I brought my ten-year-old grandson with me for our first Nana-Grandson Road Trip. He loved the Treehouse and the setting…. And thought it was super cool. For me, the personal touches give this cabin a home away from home feel. We had everything we needed (and more) … from small toiletries to the “Welcome to the Cabin” blueberry muffins. It is obvious that our hosts go the extra mile to make certain their guests have a top-rate experience. Thank you for helping me create a very special memory for my grandson. I am coming back in August by myself to have some inspirational quiet time and I am counting the days until my return.

Big Canoe was a beautiful, relaxing place with plenty of things to do for us and our 13 year old!
The property was clean, homey and beautiful. The little nest in the trees was so quiet and peaceful. Our hosts were wonderful and very personable. We had everything we needed and wanted! We enjoyed our stay very much! Fishing at Lake Petit was fantastic! Our son caught a golden trout released in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Lake.We will visit again!

Getting Ready for a Nana-Grandson RoadTrip
This was a solo trip as I am bringing my grandson (age 10) to this cabin in July and, being a wise Nana, I wanted to get the “lay of the land” in advance. The cabin was decorated beautifully and the bottle of wine was greatly appreciated. I spent several hours each day sitting on the deck… soaking up the beauty. The printed materials were extensive and helpful. I am excited about bringing my grandson there on our first Nana-Grandson Road Trip. I know we will create precious memories at Bearfeet Retreat when we stay there in July. Thank you very much.

We loved this chalet!
What a cute place this is! I love the upgrades to the home while keeping the originality. Super hot water, comfy bed, beautiful area- we really enjoyed it here! Several extra touches that made our stay wonderful such as a guidebook to the area, plenty of towels and washcloths, and things you don’t think of like extra tissue or salt and pepper. Perfect getaway for the two of us, but enough room for a small family too!

Anniversary trip
Everything was as advertised. It was clean, quiet, nicely decorated, and great views on the deck. Felt safe there. The roads are curvy and take time to get used to for those not used to the mountains. Suggest not arriving after dark, especially driving for the first time. All in all it was a beautiful place to stay.

Wonderful property
This was our first time visiting Big Canoe. We were very pleased with the property we chose to stay in. The owners did a great job making you feel at home. Everything you need is pretty much available to you. The only downside for us was no blinds at either sliding door upstairs. We felt a bit exposed especially since there are other properties in close proximity. This however did not dampen our enjoyment. We would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for the wonderful review. We are in the process of replacing one of the sliding doors with a regular door which will fix that problem. We need to come to an agreement on what to do on the other sliding door. Your bringing it up, will hopefully move it to a priority. Hope you return!

Absolutely Amazing!
We were looking to have a nice family getaway and this cabin more than met expectations. It was personalized at check in with a list of activities happening within the area, and also stocked with games and puzzles which our family put to great use. The kitchen was fully stocked and the grill and deck were wonderful for outdoor dining. Morning coffee on the deck was spectacular with the sounds of nature and even a visitor or two that wandered up right next to the cabin. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to escape into nature with their family. We definitely would like to come and stay again in the future!
